Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Congrats on the 3 that hatched! How many are left?

1 more almost out and then 4 to go. One hasn't pipped yet.

I wonder if it has something to do with the shape of the egg. The others were oblong, this one is round.

Yeah go big or go home lol. We have a large order for ducklings so this is the first half of it.

It's another reason we liked Iain's brooders. They work well for large numbers.

50 duck eggs celtic? Wow, hope you don't have to brood them for long, lol.

CG- Even if you only get one with a broody for a momma I wouldn't worry about it being lonely.

QJ- When do the extra kids go home? Poor thing, today is not a nice day for babysitting.

Cute poult Marty, what a nice thing to wake up to.

actually im going to try and give her more eggs.
she cant have the babies its too cold out.
if she only has one i may bring her inside and let her brood him for a while.

Yours in the incubator are due in a few weeks right? The older one should be ok with the littler ones I think. Ducklings are pretty nice to eachother. It would be a lot easier if it was warm though. My poor babies are all crammed inside today. It's supposed to get a little warmer, but not enough. Once the kids go down for their nap I'm wrapping part of the brooder in plastic, then with their heat lamp on they should stay nice and toasty. They are driving me nuts inside.

its not too cold here right now.
but still too chilly for her to have babies outside.

and yes incubator babies are due the 20/21
so they are just under 2 weeks away.

i think the mutt ducklings are finally liking being here.
one of them was after me when i changed the water.
i think they know i give goodies.
the geese are always on the lookout for goodies.

How cute. Do you think there is a difference in how friendly your ducks with the goslings are?
