I'll see if my feed store has pellets. I know it has shavings, but that would be messy to use inside.

i refuse to use shavings bcuz of the mess.
the pellets work wonders.

QJ- I'd try putting her with the appleyards. By the time she's a week or 2 she should be caught up and as big as, if not bigger than them.
Iain- I use the shelf liner stuff the first week, shavings after that. I just put an inch or so, then add another inch every few hours and change it at night. I want to try the wood pellets though.

That was my original plan.. but they're outside now. And they are HUGE! I need to take a pic.

they will pick at them but not eat them. i think they must taste funny.

and the equine fresh smells soo good.
not like a brooder. it smells like fresh wood.


oh and the cat ball is a big hit. i bet fiona will love one if you get her one

Yes--this is what I wanted to do, but didn't get a scale in time. I don't think it would have been very accurate anyway, because the eggs were older and I'd have no way of knowing how much weigh they had already lost. Next time I hatch duck eggs, I'm going to keep records.

Saw someone posted yesterday asking about duck eggs and weight loss during incubation. Would be a good project to weigh and record weights and hatch outcome on ducks. I haven't seen a detailed record done on ducks like Pete did on Geese.

Just had 14 Blue Amerucanas hatch today

My baby emu has he umm butt hole turned inside out sticks out about an inch and a half is there anything I can do for him??
I have been cleaning it two thimes a day. But its really red color now.

Yay on the americaunas. I have no idea on the emu, lol. The only thing I know about them is they steal sandwiches.

Hello all.

Still only the one baby, and no additional pips from the other two promising eggs.

I ordered my bator 9 days ago. Still nada. Call today, and the lady at gqf says it'll take an extra week, since I ordered on the internet. What kind of bird poop is that??? I wrote them an email telling them they should warn people who are ordering onthe internet that it'll take an extra week this way. Like I told them, If I'd known that, I'd have just called them!

Not a happy camper.

Just got 13 eggs in yesterday, and am expecting another couple dozen today and tomarrow. There certainly is not room in my set up bators, except the one I dono't trust.

I wish more turkeys would hatch, I need the *%#$@ space!
