Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

QJ, did you survive the day?

Our 5 week olds got to spend a few hours outside today. I think they had a good time, but it was a bit of stimulation overload for them. I was overly worried the whole time. Too many eagles and hawks flying overhead. So hubby now gets to build a tractor pen with a top. Can't let my babies get killed like that.

Getting ready to do my day 7 weigh in on goose eggs and will candle too. Fingers crossed I see more spiders!

Quackers, too flipping funny! They just "followed" you home. Enjoy, if the kids tell hub y he can't get too mad right?

Caught! I was putting the ducks back into their main run and unbeknownst to me, hubs went upstairs and found them. He told me he was going to call the feed store and forbid them from selling me any more live critters.

Oh well, still got my incubator!

I'm still shocked how slow ducks hatch. I've got one that's been pipped for almost 24 hours, lazily poking it's beak at the hole every once in a while. Normal or should I worry? They are due Saturday PM.

I now have 6 of 11 pipped.

I reeeeaaaaalllly don't want to read 1,936 pages of just taking soo...How did yalls' hatches come through?

Welcome!

I've got 11 duck eggs in lockdown due Saturday. Stay posted for details.

And you can always pop in and just ask for the quick update if you can't keep up! Sometimes I come home after work to 300 or more posts.

I checked my eggs tonight.

QJ I will bet good money she will vent sex as a girl. The goslings last year that visually were wrong, looked male but sexed female. Had to go back and double check. I will vent sex this one here tonight.
Fiona is a perfect name by the way.
DG very fair price, that's $2 a chick!
Ok what's up with all of the early pips? Think the solar flares have anything to do with it? Or is it the Aliens again?
I vent sexed her and no pee pee popped out.. but I'm still learning that method. I'm going to try on these new duckies. Is it normal for geese to be so gentle and motherly?
I bet solar flares have a lot to do with some weirdnesses. I didn't think of that.
