I don't think the color sexing works on Saxonys. It says eye stripes are girls and dark ones are boys. I have 3 dark ones with eye stripes. LOL.

Also egg #8 zipped and then I think died. I can't hear anything or see movement. Now why the heck would it zip and then die? That's dumb.

I love the cute pics of baby ducks, and ducks and goosies in a tub (Yeah, I'm a softy for baby waterfowl having a nice dip in the tub.)

Still no more pips from the baby turkeys. (aagh!) I'm sure not having much luck with these last two ebay hatchings. I hope the ones waiting to go in down on my piano do better!

I'm gonna call the bator people again today, and if they won't ship it today, I'm going to cancel my order. I wonder how long it'll take to get a refund.

Hey Marty! I had a bad round with eggs there too. But then these last 2 hatches were amazing. (too many actually). So I'm thinking either the cabinet gives me better hatch rates, or the shipping was better in those 2. Or both maybe.
I hope the ones on the piano do better. And that little turkey needs to come outta there pronto.

I'm starting to wonder if my new didgital thermometer has issues. I got it just before the quail eggs were set a month ago, and the ones that hatched came 2 days early. Turkey is 2 days early. I've got it down a degree and a half now, and I hope it helps.

Probobly too late for these two eggs, though. I take nothing for 24 hours when one is out of the shell as a bad sign.

Just had someone hatch 1 doz baby cayugas out of my eggs from 2 doz that I sent him. He wants another 2 doz eggs he's going to overun with ducks.

Good morning all!

First little runner duckling has joined the feedstore babies in the brooder. I was terribly worried that it couldn't walk, so I put it in the tupperware in the brooder like I did with flippy chick. Came out of the bathroom to find the little one had escaped and was clumsily running around with the others!

Got 6 more eggs pipped. If they all hatch, it will be 7 of 11. Got two more that look like they might still pip and 2 that I think are dead. I see sloshy in one of the eggs, so I think that one's gone for sure.

So cute watching a runner learn to walk. Not sure if first peep is one of the keepers or not. I have a terrible time with fawn and white. Got 5, 4 were drakes.

I'd say so! I want to add Cayugas one day.. but the saxony I hatched yesterday just put me at capacity... for now.
