sbost, put your new still air hatching incubator into the bathroom. That way, you can steam up room by running hot shower before opening bator. The humidity is not affected this way.

CG, our ducky we had to assist last hatch (Tink) had both eyes closed for the first 12 hours. Then one eye opened, but the other stayed closed for another 1-2 days before fully opening normally.

it also works to put a blanket over you and bator if you cant put it in bathroom. lol. this way my quick fix.


and ok good this means its pretty normal.
im assuming they both have quite a bit of yolk left to absorb. i could only see 1s belly

LOL! I assume that question is meant for me? I bought 4 buff dewlap toulouse eggs last week from a seller in central California with beautiful stock. These are the replacement eggs from DEC ! These are my Huck farms Marans ~ I have been waiting forever it seems !!!!! Insert Enthusiam x a billion!

So They all are in LD ~ I have candled & they all look good! But they are some DARK DARK eggs

I want some BLUE BLUE BLUE !
Please peeps I need some blue vibes !

You will be fine opening the hatcher once a day to put in an egg. Just make it quick!
Only next time gather & put them all in on the same day or stagger if you want between a couple to a few hatch days

Another thing that may help. If you have a humidifier, plug it in near your bator. It works like a charm.

Rhubarb & asparagus are on my 2 do list this spring. Is it to late to plant?

I've only planted it once before, and that was plants I dug up while at my grandparents in Iowa. Asparagus and rhubarb grow like crazy up there, it's everywhere. I had a few going last year, but they got mowed under.

If you grow Martha Washington from seed, it will only set you back a year, but they are VERY hardy from seed, and much less likely to die than crowns. Oh, and we planted about 50 sq ft for $1.50. The seedlings are tiny tiny, and you have to water very often, and it take a while to germinate, but by fall, they will be established and slendor. Three years later, lots of ones to pick. And, Marthas are self seeding......

Thats what I grow, becasue its a harsh environment here in summer, but they are doing awesome, 10 years later. I recomend this to anyone who can remember to water every day or other day (when it didn't rain that night). Totally worth the trouble. Fabulous flavor, and wonderful stalks.

If my crowns don't take I'm going to try that. The rhubarb is growing fast, haven't seen anything from the asparagus yet. Hasn't been very long though.

no ideas on why the eyes are closed guys?
gave them another drink of save a chick. and moistened membranes.
they still have yolk to absorb so the rest is up to them

Anywhere from a few hours to a day. Mine don't open their eyes much until they are up and moving around. They rest for a long time after zipping.

those lazy butts didnt zip mommy did it for them.
mommy did all but internally pip for them .
but boy are the tired.
they are fighting sleep tho. ill see them doze off then struggle and start peeping.

i really think the rest of the eggs are a no go.
but im not going to check them close until these guys are up and about
