Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Guess what?? I went to turn my eggs that are in with my day 24 eggs, and I heard one peep! I quickly candled and saw that 4 are either already internally pipped or about to pip! So I quickly moved the last of my day 20 eggs into goose bator (and my 2 pidgey eggs propped upright) and am now starting to slowly boost humidity. That little egg peeped loudly at me the whole time I was rearranging everyone for hatching.... and it's BLUE!

So happy for you!

No silly, they come in the fall! I actually took a mycology class. When we did one of our August mushroom hunts for the class in my dads cow fields, we gathered a few. We were very surprised when we took them back to class and identified them.

I was mortified.

I have been waiting hours to post this. I couldn't help myself!

Hatched this morning! Our beautiful pekin/buff mix! Egg laid on our farm, the first to hatch.

Tracy

What a cutie! Lovely photo. Will be blue with a bib. Looks like your Pekin is hiding a dose of Black (meaning that your duckling is blue all over...except for the bib). The blue most likely comes from the Buff. It's a sweetie - love the orange bill with the blue down.

Heehee....

We have some bad ones too. Unforunately, the most commen one is Amanita Muscaria - The Destrying Angel. It can be mistaken for a commen edable, unless one does a spore print. It reportedly tastes great too. Then, 2 days later terrable illness, day 4 minor improvement, day 5-6 kidney and liver failure followed by death. untreatable. (so if you folks in the states find a lovely white mustroom in the fall - if you lay it on a black paper overnight, before eating it, if it has white on the paper below it DO NOT EAT IT.)

Most people here only eat morels, just to be safe.
Cool!! People round here regularly die from eating the wrong mushrooms. Not heaps of people, just a two or three a year. So don't do that.

Will check out the garden thread!
