Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

gave the big ducks back their pool.
their pretty happy .
altho the boys are squabbling a little.
and the girls are staying out of it. one got in and all 3 boys went for her, she was quick to jump back out

Update: Eggs 1 & 2 are racing each other to externally pip... and eggs 3 & 4 are starting to peck at shell. The other 4 eggs are moving along, doing their thing. Humidity is at 72%.

I checked my 2 cayuga eggs. One I see pushing at membrane. The other I see beak opening/closing below air cell. I tried to place them on more of an angle instead of straight up/down. I will keep checking them every few hours.

And my geese... they aren't even nice to me these days... and here I am trying to raise babies for them to have. I'm sure they will get to meet today. Maybe they will appreciate me more. lol

come on babies

Ok...thought I'd join in on this thread. I'm starting my first batch of Call duck eggs this evening, and I need all the cheerleaders and finger crossing I can get, lol. I plan to set 20 eggs...that is, if I get 3 more eggs by then. Half will be pastel, half butterscotch, roughly. I'm questioning the fertility on one of my pastel hens, though. The drake she is with seems to prefer the other hen in that trio, so I may have some clear eggs show up out of that pen. Otherwise, there's a whole lot of hanky panky going on out there and the few eggs I've checked are definitely fertile.
So, I've got my fingers crossed that my first batch of Call ducks goes well!

Wow, yours are ahead of mine. As of last night, none of mine looked like they'd internally pipped, but I think they were getting close. Maybe my 'bator temps were lower than yours. I kept my Brinsea Mini Advance at 99.5 until day 18 or so, then dropped it to 99.3 to keep it from getting too hot. It fluctuates between 99.3 - 99.5. I'm glad I'm working all day, otherwise I'd be way too tempted to keep candling them to see what's going on.

Sounds cute!

Christine, the duckling in the 2nd pic you showed us last night was internally pipping!! We are at exactly 24 hours since eggs 1 & 2 internally pipped. My normal time between internal and external ranges from 24 to 36 hours.... so I expect to see cracks in shells later today. Eggs 3 & 4 are also working on external pipping... and the remaining eggs are vibrating and rocking. My bator sounds like popcorn in the microwave with a good amount of peeping too. I'm getting excited!!

Congrats Sue!!!! You had a perfect hatch!
