Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

I re-checked all my remaining eggs this morning. All 5 cayugas and one lonely toulouse egg are going strong on day 19; my 3 precious dewlaps are doing great on day 16, and I am seeing very good fertility on day 4 in both sets of new eggs (saxony & silver apple).... however, nothing is developing in the last 2 toulouse eggs, which is ironic because I would not have bought the sax and sa eggs if I knew that both toulouse eggs would be duds.

How's everyone else's eggs cooking??

saturday/sunday if fast approaching. =)
friday i will put the pen around the black hen.

and next monday i will put boards up so the little hen can not wonder off with the babies.

but any suggestion for the hen in the nest box.?
it is in the chicken house. its one of the old style 3 boxes on bottom with 3 ontop?
not sure how i can but anything around it to pen her in and other out, i dont want the guineas killing my itty bitty babies. and i dont want her getting off when a few hatch. im going to take them as they hatch and give her more eggs when all is done.
i plan to reset her and maybe 1 other hen,
and maybe the black hen that sat the first round will get to raise the babies. but not if she is going to be grouchy like she is on the nest. i dont want attacked everytime i want to touch them.

Yes, If you could PM the number to me that would be great. I may have to call them later in the month and say Where the **** are My ducklings! They said when I ordered that I should have them in April. After I paid they had a bunch of excuses as to why they could not give me a date, so I'm holding them to the mid - April thing and if the end of April gets here and they have not notified me I'm calling!

I found a phone number last night... I can find it again if you want it.

Can you put a screen up over the opening to the nest box or convince her to sit somewhere else? If you take them as they hatch I wouldn't give more eggs right then. The hen will need at least a week or 2 break, being broody is hard on them. Even my silkies with their black combs still look all pale and pathetic after sitting on eggs a few weeks.

well shes a big hen so i wanted the babies to be able to get out if the wanted.
and if i dont re set her right away itll be another month or 2 before she will go broody again.
the other hen still looks healthy (after sitton 2 rounds)
they are waited on hand and foot.

i may just not worry about it im on spring break so i will be home . i guess i can just check on her every couple of hours.

im also starting to think a hen due this weekend flaked out on me. s
he is running around with the flock, she usualy just stays close to the barn.
ill check her nest in an hour. and if she is still off the eggs are coming inside.

That is such a bummer, QJ and Chicken. When you guys were ordering there, I had a bad feeling back then because we couldn't find a lot of good reports about them. If still looking, once again, I highly recommend Thistle Down Farm's stock. Or you can wait six months and hopefully I'll have eggs from Aurora Springs/Thistle Down breeding pairs to swap!

Hey everyone! I have been a busy lady. I wish I could go back and read all posts from the last couple days but man, it would take me a week. LOL
I candled my 2 dozen red/roux dilute quail eggs from thequaillady and only 8 were viable. Pshh....Go figure. They are due to hatch the end of next week. I have had the worst luck with her eggs. I also just set 1 dozen Ancona eggs from Boondocker lines yesterday. Yay!

My 4 fertile quail eggs made it. 3 english whites and a rosetta tux.

And I picked up my Anconas!!! This was just after a swim. They are so cute.
