Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

hmmm not much to update.

the chicks are still not mingling too well. it seems the cochins have taken over and both groups of silkies are sticking togather.

in the bator and under the call hen i have eggs due thursday but looks like im goin gto have an early baby . i have 1 already pushing at the membrane.
i will raise humidity more once i get home. its already naturally at 50%

and it looks like i have an egg who quit between lastnight and today . (one thats due this week) which is odd.

silkie eggs still look great.

of the 4 eggs i sat last week 3 are fertile and looking good.

and this week i wil candle the eggs under the chicken due the 2nd.

will also get a pic of the light colored guinea keet.

still gota figure out how to seperate my call hen from everyone while she is hatching.
hoping there is extra wire laying around but i keep using it for projects not sure what is left.

Complete with all original paperwork, receipt from when bought, and maybe used once or twice if that. Got both the bator and hatcher for less than 1 cabinet bator. :D

About half way done with the Buff American hatch! Will be shipping part of them out this week. Still more Sebbies hatching. We have eggs set to hatch right into early June. 20 goslings growing out, and starting to see changes and making early selections to watch closer come September.

Three keepers so far:
Ripple - goose- grey dilute saddle, betting she will go splash
Jubilee - goose- splash super curly
Unnamed - gander - white with chest curls to spare

Growing out: blue, grey splits, buff, lilacs, possible lavender/lavender splash, saddlebacks, a few who need to feather to figure out color/pattern. Fun group for sure. (all Sebastopol)

Then we have hubbies buff dewlap Toulouse babies 1 gander 3 geese

Good morning, all. Hope everyone is hatching healthy babies and enjoying watching them grow up.

I guess I have to jump in on the cichlid conversation because I have kept ciclids for years. You name it, I've probably owned it at one time. I currently have a midas cichlid who I have had now for 5 years in a 55 gallon tank in my office and loves to be a part of what's going on in the room. He attacks my dogs through the glass and is not a big fan of strangers, but he likes me. I also have a jack dempsey and oscar. Each are also in their own tanks, but they are only a year old now and have a lot of growing to still do.

Kevin, good luck with the puffers. My cichlids live for years and years... but I cannot keep puffers alive. Brackish water is a big PITA to maintain.

My sweet turkeys have turned on me
th.gif
. They're becoming quite aggressive. I think I'm gonna enforce my no aggressive bird policy again.
Aren't they poults? My adult turkeys a girl and sweet, but standoffish, I'm hoping my little boy poult doesn't turn into a meanie. I always thought the boys were the sweeter ones. When not in breeding season at least.

the 3 splash that dont have many feathers yet

#4 my favorite.
hes a sweetheart

i swear the next 3 pics are different birds.
im thinkin all roos.
they are starting to get white on them so they are going to be mottled

i will try to get better pics tomarrow
these girls were hungry and thirsty after their drive.

Thanks GQ and Marty

. I had to turn the light off because looking at a empty tank bothers me more.

I think I'll get a school of Pea Puffers to fill the tank:

I hate those guys. Had a few and they lived forever and drove me nuts because they were taking up my tank and I couldn't put anything else in with the vicious things.
I am the hatch queen!!!!

Just kidding, but isn't this funny?

Great find!

My incubator is almost empty. Broody silkie has quite the stash under her though. They are staggered, she added a few more I didn't notice for a couple of days, but I'm not taking them until the others hatch. My brooder has a sizzle chick again though, 1 waiting for me to move it into the bator, and one zipping. 3 left to hatch then it will be unplugged and scrubbed.

Taking a break from hatching.

I used to raise Cichilds, too. The Africans are the worst, I think. If you didn't have the right recipe in that tank, you wouldn't have fish for long! The South American's were better, but touchy to raise. These days? A beta in a bowl works just fine, lol.
Yes I hated Africans! Well with the exception of the Frontosa
love.gif
. I ended up switching to South American ones too but were still not what I liked. I just went back to Angels after that. Bettas are awesome! I must admit I can't resist a good Full Moon one.

I've seen Midas at the lfs and love them! I had a Jack for about 3 years before it jumped out of the tank
th.gif
. I love when the lfs has the Electric Blue ones in stock. Yea I heard they can be harder to keep alive. The show tank at the fish store has a Mbu Puffer:

What species do you have? I HATED the gravel habit. I had planted tanks before them.
