Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

I have him wrapped in a damp paper towel dipped in sterilized water, and he is in the bator. From what I could see he's made quite a large hole in the membrane, almost as if he was trying to zip the membrane. The membrane look really great, moist, kind of a sticky brown color with some red blood vessels ( I Think?) in it. it seems as if the membrane is pulling down off of the egg, when you look inside the membrane is still stuck to the shell somewhat close to the middle, but pulls down off of the shell as it comes toward you. He's doing great. Cute little ducky beak.

That was me. Thanks.
Geese are hard!! Ducks are easy. lol
mmm hmmm... ie: Chuck the duck who like to "party".
It's not shrink wrapped if it's not white and stuck to the ducks body. If you see blood leave it be. Check on it again tonight. It's not ready to come out just yet.

No way. Geese are easy. Ducks are hard!

Lawdy on the disco duck reality. So far, they are still doing ok. We took down coop fence and moved their kiddy pool further into common yard so they literally have acres of space now, but they still spend 99% of their time in the coop.

X2 on the not shrink wrapped. Brown yucky is usually the opposite of shrink wrap, although exposed to dry air, it will turn into rubber cement. If you see blood, that baby is not ready yet. If the inside membrane is not stuck to baby, only fitting it like a well-fit glove, this is how it should look.

Just felt a jolt of stress adrenaline as I checked the tracker on my buff goslings and see they were delivered to post office 3 hours ago. They are guaranteed delivered by Thursday 3pm. Oh man, they are officially in the hands of USPS.

for their safe arrival!!

Hi everyone! well i am down to 4 out of 8 mini silvr appleyard eggs developing under my broody muscovy. their eggs seem very delicate compared to muscovy eggs either that or theperson needs to give her ducks more calcium. it could also have to due with my chicken blondie trying to pester the nest. after i found egg baby parts i wonder if my chicken blondie is an egg eater. she is too old even for a stew pot chicken. and mr blue the evil drake is no more...my coworker made curry. my welsh harlequin eggs are down to 9/10 probably for the same reason as the msa eggs.
