Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

I think so, probably next year. I will definitely be getting them from that farm. They are the best quality that I have seen around here and better than any off of ebay.
I think I might be heading to battleground

I lost my Ollie on Friday. It happened so fast. He went peacefully and, I think, painlessly - it was the end I was praying for. Still sucks. Cancer sucks. I lost both my boys, less than a year apart, to osteosarcoma and then hemangiosarcoma.

The house is so quiet without his "talking." I forgot to feed my Golden Retriever dinner until 10:30 last night because she doesn't remind me.

Sorry I haven't been on today. I had a hair experience from hell. I was chemically straightening my hair as I always do and this time it fell out. ALL of it. I'm basically bald now. I bought a wig but it just doesn't look right on me. Today was just one of those days

Oh my! Kevin! No way! Are you serious???

Heres a pic of my newest sebbie. Its a girl. My lone grey dewlap is a boy. I gave in after years, and got bifocals. Now I can see to vent sex.

Its much easier than making my kid hold the bird, and me get the vent ready, and grab the magnifying glass to peek, or try....

I have recieved my Fancy eggs !
1st box $71 for 3 eggs.... 2 cracked (box leaking) noted by my PO..... When I spoke with them again today. INSURED .... Now I get to submit a claim... OH WHAT FUN!

& I found out even though you get insurance it does NOT cover delayed delivery. Only broken etc contents.... SO if this was my GUINEA egg shipment & it had insurance I would still be SOL !!! ( I would be crackin me some eggs)
But I did get my impeyans ($255 for 5 eggs
ep.gif
& they put in 1 extra) So THESE BETTER HATCH !!! or hubby will leave me

I also got my Swinhoes & Elliots
Bought ~ 12 Swinhoes for $123 & 10 Elliots for $110 ~ So I am going to be sleeping with my Master Bator
lau.gif

So does this make me Bat Sh$t Crazy????

CRAZY thing is my Impeyan Pheasant eggs are almost as big as my Bourbon Red Turkey eggs !
Dang....I think I'd have rather had the birds for that kind of money. But then, I'm not one to talk...spent my fair share on special eggs, lol.

Wanted to share a photo of our huge artichoke plant. Thanks, duck poo.

Ummm....he doesn't look too happy. Is he mad the artichoke plant is taller than he is?

Morning report:

Injured buff girl is looking better. Swelling not as bad this morning as yesterday, and she and her grey dewlap boy look so cute cuddling together. Hate having to drain her face 3x a day, but I think she is realizing that we are not going to kill her when we pick her up and is not stressing quite as bad when she gets treated. But it is sad to enter and see her go into back corner and turn her back to me while all the greys excitedly run to me.

At least the other two new buff babies are warming up nicely! Last night, we put them in their own garage pen adjoining the other two pens to make sure they could have free access to food/water without getting bullied, but hope after another full day of turnout with Barley and the ducks, they will be accepted.

Spirit turned 3 weeks old yesterday and has gone 48 hours without falling!

We are going to take all the indoor babies outside for some exercise today. Fingers crossed Spirit has better balance moving around than the last time she went outside.
Poor girl.....do you love on her a lot in between treatments? I hope she heals quickly so she can move past this. Glad to hear Spirit is improving!

I'm not a big fan of Porsche either. I'll make hubby think of a new name.

Thanks to Celtic, we have a name for our expensive girl... Diva! Here's a pic of Diva with Tank, her new best friend.
Awwwww! So sweet!

Am I just heartless?

So today I was taking the dogs out and there was a cat on the drive. Fairly normal but I went over to investigate. It ended up that it was hit by a car. It's eyes were blood shot and spitting up blood. My first reaction was to grab the gun and put it out of it's misery. Before I could make it to the door, the neighborhood old man came over to look at it. (He basically takes care of all the stray cats and calls them his own.) He ended up taking it with him and stayed with it before it passed. Should my reaction been so quickly to dispatch it? Am I really that heartless? When he picked it up it was crying and meowing and I'll admit it pulled at my heart strings and I did cry a bit. I haven't had the guts to go over and ask him if it's passed yet.... I'm not sure I honestly want to know.
Poor cat...I'd have gotten my .22 and helped it along., too. Nothing wrong with that.

Fred update...... whee she was nesting one of the babies got out the back and she didn't see it. So we resqued baby..... the proceeded to move the family. Fred and Ethel Were Not HAPPY! Knowing that moving her would probally break her off the nest we had the bator on stand-by. got them moved and gave back one of the 2 babies that were fully hatched. The other was kinda flippy so we brought it in for vitamins and to keep an eye on it. Hatched and gave her more of the babies today. She's up to 4, the last one was SW. I have it's head out now and it's making noise.

Hoping it does the rest by it'self and make it. I figure 5 babies for one year olds and their first hatch is pretty good. Fred has learned that I'm not taking her babies, just making sure they have food and water and know where the baby food is
big_smile.png
I plan to give vitamins in the water till all 5 stop flipping and are doing good. Pics tomarrow and pics of my new Black Sumatra chickens

Glad she stuck with them!

CL haha:

"called duck babies - $8

Strong healthy babies called ducks.....
these ducks are tiny when full-grown..
very gentle friendly.. enjoy being around people..
asking eight dollars per baby..."
Now that's funny!

Thanks everyone!! Hubby has been taking a special liking to Diva and Tank. Yesterday afternoon, as I was going to take a shower, I mentioned to hubby that I wanted Diva and Tank to get outside for a little play time before dark. When I got out of shower, I Iooked out my window and saw this:
You have a good man there! Mine could care less about the critters
