Thanks to Celtic, we have a name for our expensive girl... Diva! Here's a pic of Diva with Tank, her new best friend.

I know, it's so frustrating. I have two diapers in there including all three reservoirs full and right now I've got my humidity up to 54%. I'm also going to try misting my eggs this time after day 4. I'll up my temp too. All I can do is see what happens! I hate this trial and error, but I guess its expected until I can figure out what works.

On a better note, my little guy, who I named Hercules, is doing well and I'm so proud of him.

You'll get it down Cr8z, I'll keep fingers crossed for you! And Yay for Hurcules!!

So cute, & I know I have let cute ducklings go in the past, & I have to remind myself that if I am getting top dollar for my birds then I can always hatch more! Unless you are trying to establish a breeding flock or project! But that just me spouting hot air

BUT I must admit I saw an auction for Pekin Cayuga cross..... I was like Hmmm

No doubt! Our flock is pretty established already, We used to have two SB's but someone drove by and offered $20.00 a piece for them. We accepted. *LOL*. Funny how things work. At one point someone drove by and asked if they could give us their ducks, they liked our set up out here. That is when we got our two Rouen (which I thought were Mallards for the longest time), our pekin drake and another runner duck. We already had one but now we have two drakes, no females. We have a nice flock of Cayuga ducks, 3 females, 3 males + 2 bachelors.

Guess I have to start somewhere!
I would have reacted the same way if you know the animal is in "bad" shape (& we all know what that is) , UNLESS you are planning on taking it to the vet & footing the bill. Otherwise to me it is just suffering....

I second that. Nothing worse than seeing an animal suffering more than it has too.

Utah, love your babies! Diva is a cute name too!
Or you should buy them , & I can get from you in the future !! I wonder what the reserve is???
In your wettest dreams!
Am I just heartless?

So today I was taking the dogs out and there was a cat on the drive. Fairly normal but I went over to investigate. It ended up that it was hit by a car. It's eyes were blood shot and spitting up blood. My first reaction was to grab the gun and put it out of it's misery. Before I could make it to the door, the neighborhood old man came over to look at it. (He basically takes care of all the stray cats and calls them his own.) He ended up taking it with him and stayed with it before it passed. Should my reaction been so quickly to dispatch it? Am I really that heartless? When he picked it up it was crying and meowing and I'll admit it pulled at my heart strings and I did cry a bit. I haven't had the guts to go over and ask him if it's passed yet.... I'm not sure I honestly want to know.
I would have done the same. Unless I had a feeling it would survive going to the vet, a bullet would be it's best friend. Nothing deserves to suffer. All your neighbor guy was doing was watching it die in pain, that sounds horrible. At least it wasn't alone I suppose.

Threw out a bunch of eggs today. One silkie duck, 5 white runners and 7 assorted ducks. Still got some silkie ducks moving actively. Disappointed in the fertility in the shipped white runners. I'd be livid had I paid for them. Haven't told hubby yet. The assorted ducks are from my flock. Need to get the boys a new copy of PlayDrake.
Bahahah...Dirty girl!
Fred update...... whee she was nesting one of the babies got out the back and she didn't see it. So we resqued baby..... the proceeded to move the family. Fred and Ethel Were Not HAPPY! Knowing that moving her would probally break her off the nest we had the bator on stand-by. got them moved and gave back one of the 2 babies that were fully hatched. The other was kinda flippy so we brought it in for vitamins and to keep an eye on it. Hatched and gave her more of the babies today. She's up to 4, the last one was SW. I have it's head out now and it's making noise.

Hoping it does the rest by it'self and make it. I figure 5 babies for one year olds and their first hatch is pretty good. Fred has learned that I'm not taking her babies, just making sure they have food and water and know where the baby food is

I plan to give vitamins in the water till all 5 stop flipping and are doing good. Pics tomarrow and pics of my new Black Sumatra chickens

I saw the Rone ducks. Thought they were in Toledo.

Thanks everyone!! Hubby has been taking a special liking to Diva and Tank. Yesterday afternoon, as I was going to take a shower, I mentioned to hubby that I wanted Diva and Tank to get outside for a little play time before dark. When I got out of shower, I Iooked out my window and saw this:

Sue, got pics of the new babies yet?? Is the shrink wrapped baby out of shell?

Quackers,
