Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Kevin, I never noticed before that you are in Texas too. Ya'll been getting a lot of rain huh? Send some our way. We need it for the hay to grow. Otherwise it will be like last year when you couldn't buy hay and everyones horses like to have starved to death. I have friends who helped me out as much as they could on hay prices but still it was terrible. I hope I never have to live through another drought like that again. I worked a serious amount of overtime and it all went on hay. What are you doing up so late anyway?

I defiantly wish I could! The droughts down here are ridiculous. So many people have had to rehome their animals because they just can't afford them. I was actually shocked when we got rain because I was not expecting it in the least bit. I actually enjoy the occasional periods with no rain much more. I'm just doing the usual BYC night owl cruise. I'll probably start falling asleep in the next 15 minutes then pass out on my bed

No drama here today. CRAP... I shouldn't have said that. Might have jinxed myself. I show the house tmw to the girl who was supposed to call me today and tell me what time. (insert eye roll here please.) We shall see... we shall see..

The pyrenees I work with tends to wander as well. We had to search all over for her once. She was taken to the shelter by whomever found her and even though she had a chip, it had migrated under her skin and they couldn't scan it. We were lucky to get her back.
I've got chicken eggs pipped. Waiting impatiently.

Sounds like Spirit is doing amazingly well! So happy!
Lol. My grandparents had me for every summer as a kid. I don't know how they did it.

Hi guy's,

Its been a very long day and I wish I was tired!! We had friends come from the west coast for 2 day's and spend every waking moment cleaning and cooking for the last week. They leave on monday and wish they could stay longer. The last time I seen them was in 1981 in Omaha Neb and I was only 9 yrs old so that would be 31 yrs ago. Just as I was getting up this morning the hubby told me that the cows were out again!!!! They are my friends springer heifers and 37 of them!!! I ended up falling in the SH*T and mud twice cause my cains and my boots got stuck. YUCK!!!! How imbarrasing, I had to take a outside hose shower before I dared to come in the house and company was already here!:barnie Our state bird the MOSQITO could have carried me away by the time I can inside. We have had so much rain (18 inches) in just 4 day's that not even the strongest deet can keep them away. I will show pics later when my phone is charged. It too took a dive in the muck with me. The so called water resistant cover is hogwash. Well I cooked our friends some farm raised bbq chicken and they just couldn't get over the size of it. I must pat myself on the back.... I was able to cook it completely and still had juices coming out!:weee I just love my new grill. Does anyone on here show chickens or ducks? I want to enter some in the county fair but have no clue as to what I'm doing. Aslo everything here is molting, do they take scores away for that?

Wow. Sounds like pure insanity... but fun pure insanity (minus the falling in poo thing). Always great to see long-time friends!

Hey Goin Quakerrs,
About the Guard Dogs, when we had sheep and would get a new dog we had to put a truck tire with a chain on thier collar to slow them down and also to train them to stay home more. It did slow them down so the lambs could have time to get away but they still would roam.
