Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Just dropping by to say hi before bed. Still have 5 muscovy eggs in the bator. The two runner eggs failed just before hatching.
Oh no Wulf!

Kevin, there is nothing wrong with chosing your eating habits. I know many veggins who raise livestock. Many chose to raise for meat, pets, breeders. After all it is all in ones perspective on what they choose. I too would be very sad if my pet ended up in one''s freezer.
Thanks for understanding Triplell

The amount of of passion on this thread is just amazing. It's like one big ole family.

I've decided to rehome all of my birds. Between my health and all of my other animals I just don't feel like I can give them the amount of attention they deserve anymore. I know in my heart it's the right thing to do but it doesn't make it any easier

. It's honestly going to be one of the hardest emotional things I've had to do in a long while.

Somehow I missed this yesterday. That's a hard decision, for sure. Don't be too hard on yourself if you do re-home them (or if you decide to keep them yourself). It sounds like you have their best interests at heart either way.
Sometimes if better to simplify your life when you have alot going on, the nice thing is, you can always hatch more birds down the road! Try not to be to judgemental on how others raise their livestock/poultry. My life-stock are VERY spoiled, but will eventually end up in our freezer.... Does that make me a bad potential owner? I guess it just depends on how you look at it.

Well have hatched a BUNCH of CUTE ANCONAS & CAYUGAS! My two faves to to hatch
Jaz...I know you may eat him someday. So if I decide to part with him, I'm fine with that.

Although I don't think I could kill and butcher my own birds, I do think that that is the best way to eat. That way you know they had a happy, healthy life before they became dinner.

Good morning everyone! I am trying hard not to check those muscovy eggs every day, but I peeked through the window and they still look like they are doing good

Hey Jaz! I saw your comment about the pekin boys. Would love to work a trade if you're still interested. Send me a PM.

Haven't been online much lately. Transitioning into 10 hour workdays and keeping busy at home. Got one batch of eggs in the hatcher and two more in the bator until I'm done for a while. Was really happy to turn one of the bators off the other day. One less thing to check every day.

I've got my incubator back up and running.

One of my calls decided to start laying and has laid me 2 eggs so far, so of course I'm trying to incubate them. Was shocked, wasn't really expecting any eggs until fall at the earliest.

I'm still hatching chicken eggs and just put some quail in. Ducks should start laying in a couple of weeks

Julie!! Good to see you. I was just bumming with Kevin that it was very dull here now that nobody is hatching. You and psue and gq have given me a reason to keep checking in!

Hows the squirrel?
gives everyone time to read what they missed this last winter
