Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Indeed, they are so adorable. I'm hoping they are appleyards or saxonies, as I already have some of those breeds.

I already love my rouens. I was afraid I wouldn't like ducks as much as my chickens, but I have to admit they are a hoot. They are just plain comical to watch with each other. We have 3 of them. 2 are very attached to my 9 year old and will squeak for her when they see her come out of the house. The other crested wants nothing to do with any of us. It stays with the others, but runs the other way even when the others come. We even hand feed them and this just hasn't worked for that one yet. We're hoping it will come around. I just love the "poof" on its head. Anyway, best of luck with your sweet babies. Can't wait to see what they turn out to be. I ended up with some surprise chicken eggs one day also. That was quite interesting. lol.

Awww So cute GQ! Hope all is well, just poppin' in to say HELLO

Doin good here. Trying to adjust to working four tens. Not bad, but busy. Ready to crawl into bed now that the quacks are in bed. Had to go snuggle some cute little fuzzies one last time.

I'm kind of kicking myself for selling my rouen ducklings when someone offered me money for them earlier this year. That's why I bought this set of hatching eggs, because I really wanted some. But I already havve appleyards and saxonies, so if I get girls, that's a good thing, especially since I'm pretty sure my two appleyards are boys.

I love cresteds, but I decided not to have any because of breeding issues. I'll bet your ducklings are adorable!

I only have one crested. Is it that you're not supposed to breed crested to crested, right? See, I told you I was new to this stuff. lol. I sure don't want any catastrophes. I'm too tender hearted for any of that.

Hey guys, I haven't been able to keep up with the thread these days. Been super busy with the rescue geese. But I wanted to give a quick update on my precious Spirit girl, who is 10 weeks old today. She has blossomed since being moved outside. Each day she gets stronger and stronger. She is living an almost normal life and is happy.

For those not following the thread, here are pics of the rescued geese in my trailer. Juveniles in front (35 total), adults in back (25 total)... plus 9 babies in kennels in my burb, which thankfully have been placed already in wonderful homes in my neighborhood.

That's correct. Breeding crested to crested results in a very ugly situation. Most ducklings will be malformed and not make it to hatch.

Hi everyone! I think one of my muscovy eggs failed... it looks a wierd yellow inside like the two runner duck eggs that failed, but I am keeping it just in case. And I think I heard chirping and either a heart beat or pecking out of one of the eggs so I might have an egg hatch soon, the other three are not as far a long I think.

I finally moved the peafowl outside. While I was setting it up the wry neck gosling almost drowned in it's waterer

. Luckily I was there and it now has a even shallower pan.

moved more chicken eggs into the hatcher this morning .. 2 more dates and I'm done for a while

... just too hard to keep the incubator cool enough
