Hi everyone

Yes, emu do take a long hatch, but as somebody said, they are a little more preditor resistant. They can kick the bum of friend and foe alike.

Hiya eyeheart! hows the quail? I gave up on mine, and the rest got killed by a cat.

All of my quail are gone. We butchered them for my dog shortly after school started. They were just getting to hard to manage while I was dealing with everything else. I had a quad of ducks left. 3 anconas and 1 magpie (from Jaz). Racoons slowly started taking them out one by one, even during the day time! Now we have our solo magpie that I was going to butcher but recently I have noticed she may actually think she is one of us. She follows the cat everywhere and for the past week she has been up on my raised back porch waiting at the back sliding glass door. She almost got in today when I let my dog in. If we leave the back door area she quacks like crazy in a pissy pants rant. She slept by the back door for most of the day today. I don't know if I am going to be able to put this cutie-pie in the freezer now. Nothing in the bator and I have no intentions of refilling it until I am done with school.
I know a couple of people with emus. They have funny personalities and are very prehistoric looking, especially their eggs and feet. They are also pretty fragile and can get stressed and have heart attacks easily.

Congrats on hatching eggs! I'm waiting for my geese to start laying or even get into breeding mode.......

Hey Eyeheart, welcome back!

Thank you! Well, I am not technically back. Just wanted to give a shout out. I have been VERY busy with school. I'm kickin' butt and takin' names. I will graduate in August. Hopefully then I will be able to chat a bit more.

Eyeheart, that's too bad about your birds. School can be sooo stressful, I don't blaim you for taking a break. GOOD LUCK!

I think with a cut magpie like that, it might be time to check out "duckie diapers" so she can be a pet, and not a raccoon meal ! Clever of her to befriend you all. Take a pic when you have time will ya?
