I agree with Miss Lydia. They will integrate, given time (once your bubs are old enough).

Babies can be overconfident and bossy. They can chase and boss the adults till the adults have had enough. That's what mine do to their parents. One drake has decided that the pack of teenagers is too scary and he stays away but the other drake tries his luck with his young daughter before being forcibly escorted away by his three sons. Now and then the drake gets cranky with this and fights back a bit and then I step in.

I just did. I'm so glad I don't have that to deal with! Wow.

Thats a biggie! Right now my ducks won't go outside the fence i think the hawk has been coming around more and with no leaves on the trees they feel vunerable.
Chickens still fly over and i worry about them, am always thankful in the evening when i count 14 heads in the chicken coop. I had a Brahma roo that scalped my bantam frizzle and I didn't see how she would pull through but she did and is going on 4 years now. and the best broody and mommie ever. It's amazing what they can heal from.

They are bad around here. Me and hubby were sitting outside feeding everyone peas one day and one swooped down at the birds and almost hit hubby. It took me a minute to figure out what was going on, everyone just took off under the cars and boat. I thought at first it was just one of the chickens flying over late for her treats but didn't understand why everyone ran. Then I looked up and there was a hawk maybe 15 feet up in a tree right above us. They haven't got anyone yet, though.

This one is getting more brave. He was in the tree right behind my house this time. The big girls were in time out though so all is well.

Julie: That happened to us last summer. It just swooped down out of nowhere.

Miss Lydia: They are sure reseliant (sp) for being such small creatures.

Yes they are thank goodness. I would love to have some silkies but when i see my hens peck each other on the head I think nope it wouldn't be worth it to see one of the silkies mortally wounded . Maybe one day when my flock gets a bit smaller.

I do love silkies though. Today one of my muscovies grabbed ahold of one of my chickens tails and held on for dear life, the chicken finally broke free minus a few tail feathers but that is usually the extent of the stuff that goes on here. You are so blessed to have an additional land to put ducks and chickens on, we have 51/2 acres but most is straight up with no possibility of additional coops. Mountain land is pretty but not too practical.
edited to correct my bad spelling
