So much for accurate vent sexing of ganders.... my "gander" Hitch (grey dewlap) just laid an egg this morning.

I wish I had that problem. Would rather have accidental girls anyday!

3 EMU eggs in LD !

I hear one baby pecking at the shell! The other 2 are "quiet" So I for sure have 1 baby hatching out of the 3 eggs !!!

It's been quite busy down here. Everyone is laying at the moment and a few birds are trying to go broody. The peafowl are still doing great at their new home and seem to be quite happy. Also I've managed to lose 15 pounds

So, it's feast or famine as far as hatching eggs go around here. I have to get creative now. Driving home on Saturday I found out that I'm getting another 18 WH eggs on Thursday. Add in the few cayuga eggs I might incubate (depending on whether or not I have extras after customer buys a doz) and of course, the four goose eggs that were waiting for me at work today. I bought a couple fakies to go in their nest to keep them using the same spot (hopefully).

RG: how is your hatching egg haul and your funky chicken?

And that feed is to die for! It's so nice, I was tempted to bucket some of it up as prepper food!

Hey my Ugly Chicken is going to be a looker after I take care of her & get her healthy! ~ Just did a new egg count ~ set 76 duck from auction, & 9 of my Brahmas. You should have came over, there were 2 eggs in my goosy nest!

I knew I should have come over. I was so exhausted by the time I got home and shoveled out all that feed into the barrels.

At least you'll have more than one emu when I do make it over again!

Iain, I bet you do have LOADS of eggs right now! I'm glad at least one buff is laying, I was starting to worry! I wonder if Baby could be tempted to sit eggs? She sits a lot. She eats a lot. I might make her a little nest with a few infertile eggs to see..... (I doubt it will work, but hey! Poor girl)

Sheesh Marty, I am getting 5 eggs a day with 6 more girls left to start laying. So far I am setting a lot, using a bunch as dummy eggs in nests, and hope to start selling hatching eggs this week. It would be awesome if Baby could sit some eggs. How is she doing these days?
