Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

I work only weekends so Sunday I will be away from 6am-2:30pm but I know my mind will not be on patients, but rather on my "babies." HA! I am on lockdown mode. My incubator beeped today and quit turning the eggs. I quickly placed the hatching tray in there and closed it. Hopefully the next time I open it I will be lifting out two fuzzy cute Welsh Harlequin babies (GIRLS I hope!)

BEST of luck in getting your dewlap african baby! Crossing my fingers for you :)
Finger crossed for girls! I'm having really bad luck getting female WH's this year. First hatch: all male. Second hatch: 2 girls of 12. Third hatch: 4 girls out of 11.
i had three girls due this last year the eggs took almost three weeks too all hatch meaning some started to hat mid may and it took till mid june to fully hatch! so make sure you know which eggs and make sure they don't sneek any more in. lol
That'll slowly drive you insane. Farm duck broody gave up her nest sometime yesterday. If I had space in bators, I would have tried to save the eggies.

Oh no, don't jinx me :) Too bad about your duck deciding not to hatch her babies. Bummer. What do you then with the eggs she abandoned? Throw them away?

It's one of my bosses' ducks, so I'm not sure what they decided to do. Once I told them my bators were all at capacity, they probably threw them in the compost.

Hated to not be able to take them. If I hatched every egg I came across, the ducks would live in the house and we'd be living in hubby's truck.

Oh my, I just did my first ever candling and saw 6 out of 7 eggs healthy and spider-ey looking!!!

Congrats on the 6 or 7!! That's great.

They did warn you that hatching was addictive, right?

GQ-If you hatched every egg, the US would be up to it's eyeballs in little fuzzy butts. Just saying.....

If I can get the boss to hand over the paycheck early, I might come down. I'm still at full capacity though, so it might not be a good idea.

I have three goose eggs in ld right now. Dangit, I want a dewlap african baby so bad!

I hatched 3 girl Dewlap Africans sooooo cute ! ~ Will be a busy day at auction this weekend, bringing a bunch of babies in! You can't come down until I have sebbies to trade for your poms !

hatching is a blast, and there is nothing like seeing a little pip & zip !

Hey all I'm on day 28 and there's no external pipping yet, should I be worried? Haven't heard and chirping either though my bators pretty noisy.

Congrats on the candling Pedrazzi, it gets stressful from lockdown on enjoy it while it lasts hahaa :p

It is not uncommed for waterfowl to not even pip on day 28. My geese seem to pip day 29 and hatch day 30 and 31. You should candle and see if the air sac is tipped strongly yet, and if you even see a little beak shadow working around after internal pipping (into the air sac). That will tell you if there is any expected progress or not. Progress is what your after....and a dab of patience. LOL.

We've all been here.

RG - post a pic of a white african dewlap baby, would you? I've got my buffs and africans all in the bators toagather, so I want to know what they look like, to assist in sorting out youngsters here in a while.
