Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

So i'm not quite sure if this is anything. I'm still very new to this whole incubation thing. But I found a hole in one of my eggs that was originally under a broody but now they are in my incubator. I just threw out an egg that had a crack and the same type of hole because it had died. I don't want this one to die and it's still moving in there I just candled it. But here is a picture of the hole on the egg.
is this the duckling trying to get out? Forgive as I have forgotten what that's called. Sorry the picture is a little blurry.
Kind of looks like an external pip, if it's moving about can you candle and see if it's bill is out of the membrane?

Yes that's what its called. Thanks for knowing what I meant. I cant really see what's going on with the little duckling taking up so much room. The external pip is on the side of the egg so it's really hard to see whats going on by the hole. There is no bill in the air sac part at the top of the egg. But I don't think there would be because like I said the hole is on the side of the egg. And I don't know how long it's been like that.

That is usually where they make their external pip so I'd put it back and keep a watch on it. sometime when candled you can see the ducklings bill inside the air sac. and you want to be careful now because this is when they can become shrink wrapped when taken out of the high humidity of the bator. Is hatch day close? you may just have an early hatcher.

Oh I'm so excited and nervous! I was not expecting this at all so early. This is one of Cheese's eggs that started to hatch. I estimated the hatch day for Wednesday the 25th but I guess she had a few that were already incubating maybe. I added water and increased the humidity since it was only at the 40%. It's now at about 62% humidity. Oh my I'm having a total freak out already. How often should I candle the egg?

I wouldn't open the bator just keep an eye on the egg, everytime you open the bator the humidity drops. So exciting keep updating.

All I know about bator hatching is what I have read on here so hopefully others from this thread will stop by and give their expertise, forgot to ask did you hear anything when you were holding the egg/ sometimes when they make internal and external pip you can hear peeping. or peep at it now and listen.

I didn't hear anything when I was holding it. I know some people say they can hear it peeping or hear it tapping on the egg but I didn't hear any of that.

But you saw it moving around right? went back and read you candled and saw it moving so good deal now is the wait. remember 24-36 hrs from beginning to end so don't get too impatient. Just keep watch on that hole. also you will probably see the egg/eggs moving too.

Miss Lydia's right on the money with the incubator - don't open it! I know it's tempting, but you gotta leave the little guy in the high humidity. Ducklings are really slow hatchers, so it's completely possible he won't come out until tomorrow. So don't worry if he's not out within the next couple hours, he's probably just resting.
