I though she wanted them next year?

I thought she wanted them now. She reminded me she wanted 12 of them the other day.

I want some!! (That was irrational.. let me think this through...)

SM: Your situation won't last forever. At some point he's going to search for his bio fam. That can be the light at the end of your tunnel.

One more thing to add: The bandage on Beaker's head is definitely loosening up. I can't pull it all the way off right now, but I can see it's getting air pockets in places and starting to come off. Also, I think it's healing nicely and must be itching a little, because Beaker keeps scratching at it. Which of course is also helping in loosening the wrap.

When I researched how to get them off, LOTS of people noted that wraps are the worst thing to put on, for this very reason... they get stuck. So from now on, injurys will be un-wrapped. Live and learn.

By the time they hatch, it will be next year, right? Granted, it will only be January, but it will still be 2012!

SM, that has to be really hard, especially during the holidays, but QJ is right, and he will look you up. We have an adopted son, and it was very important to him to find his "biological" family. Now he stays in contact with his mother and his two sisters.

SM, that is bad about your grandson

But he will come looking one day - I agree with the others.

Welcome JZ!

Cayugas are stunning.

Good news that Beaker's bandage is coming off .... slowly! Makes me squirm just thinking about it.

I took a duck to the avian vet this morning. She's been laying soft shelled eggs most days (the other days she lays hard eggs but they are rough like sandpaper). He said that she has an infection in her shell gland, right at the end of the reproductive tract where the shell is put down. She is on antibiotic tablets for a month now. Hope it does the trick. If not, then it just means she will continue to lay dodgy eggs but it won't affect her otherwise. It's expensive going to the avian vet but i always learn something and it has always helped my ducks. This vet's practice is in my street - how lucky is that?

When he turns 14 I will be at their doorstep, if she doesn't keep us in his life. In Iowa when they turn 14 they can decide who they want to live with. I will introduce myself to him on his 14th birthday if they don't keep in touch. He has been my baby for 2 years, I wa t him back. My son and his wife were idiots and screwed up their lives abd almost his. I should have stepped up and went to the adoption court and took him but I figured he was better with them if they kept us in his life because they are younger and have another child for him to grow up with. Boy was I an idiot for letting my baby go.

You should always wrap at first because of infection. You just have to do it the right way. The bandages against the wound should always be wet with antibotic creams, then cover with dry wrap. BUT CHANGE EVERYDAY.
