Well, she just flew in and you don't know where she came from. If hubby wants to go kick her out in the cold all alone right before Christmas then just go ahead, lol.

That is brilliant Julie

Cayugas are stunning.

Good news that Beaker's bandage is coming off .... slowly! Makes me squirm just thinking about it.

I took a duck to the avian vet this morning. She's been laying soft shelled eggs most days (the other days she lays hard eggs but they are rough like sandpaper). He said that she has an infection in her shell gland, right at the end of the reproductive tract where the shell is put down. She is on antibiotic tablets for a month now. Hope it does the trick. If not, then it just means she will continue to lay dodgy eggs but it won't affect her otherwise. It's expensive going to the avian vet but i always learn something and it has always helped my ducks. This vet's practice is in my street - how lucky is that?

How lucky. I haven't ever taken my birds to the vet but I do know where the closest avian one is in case of emergency. I had to take my quaker parrot there once. Glad you caught it early, birds are excellent at hiding there's something wrong until it's too late.

Nope. Is there a contact listed on their website? You could either email or call to ask how to place your order.

I think you can just call to place your order too, but not sure.

You should always wrap at first because of infection. You just have to do it the right way. The bandages against the wound should always be wet with antibotic creams, then cover with dry wrap. BUT CHANGE EVERYDAY.

That's the thing! I loaded it with salve so that it wouldn't stick, but it was bleeding and oozing. The next day I tried to tug at it and it was stuck in places where the "stuff" came through. Ugh.. it was so gross. But the soapy water is doing the trick.

I bet it stings!

DG: I was trying to figure that out last night too. It's not just you. They say they only accept cashiers check or money order and that you mail your order in. You can also call them. Look to the right where it says "Order Form". You fill that out and mail it in. Kinda old school.
