Good grief. We've had a pretty crappy poultry week. Maybe we should just order something to feel better.

Hey BTW: I got an email from Ideal poultry saying when my snowy mallards would be available. Did you get an email by chance?

I'm approaching my hubby tonight about my Holderreads order. He was throwin' a couple back last night with a friend in his "man-cave". So he was quicker to say yes. Wine with dinner perhaps? And then maybe he'll help me fill out the order form!

Sounds like a plan..

So sorry about your chick, Julie. It sure has been a bad week.

I got a call from my duck minder to say that she'd had trouble getting the ducks back in their pens. There are three pens, each with a drake and between one and four ducks. Normally they all go into the correct pen when they can tell its time to go to bed but the duck minder had a whole packet of peas so they just all milled around her feet in a big ducky mass. She got them in in the end though but i think she went through a couple of pounds of peas to achieve that.

What does it mean to be a county horse queen? Sounds like something she put a lot of effort into! We don't have 4H here it I looked it up on Wikipedia.

Sorry it took me so long to respond, I took all my Christmas decorations in the house and put them all away and got busy cleaning up my storage room.

4h county horse queen is when a 4h youth rides their horse in the arena in a certain pattern that the judge tells them. After following the pattern, they ride their horse as fast as they can around the arena while saluting the crowd and then coming to a stop as fast as they can. They need to have full control of their horse at all times. Its a lot of work and my girl did really well. I am proud of her. After making county queen, they go for the state horse queen and there is some really tough competition from all over the state of Iowa. She didn't make it past the county level though.
