Goin' with CG on this one.
Our lambs would never take a bottle after they have been with their mom for over 3 hours. BTW this is my moms idea to take the lambs away....

sometimes it takes a day or 2 until they are hungry enough.
some babies are stubborn lol
But if the parents have hoof rot won't they give it to the babies if they are left with them? I know colostrum is important (from my preemie human kids, lol) but if the momma's have something they can give to the babies isn't it important to get them away quickly?
I'm trying to learn all of this in case I get my sheep or goats I want someday.![]()
Thank You. Hoof Rot is from wet/moist conditions in their pen. Did this happen after the flood ya'll had? Those babies will not get it from the parents, they will get it from the pen.Footrot takes some pretty serious conditions to get to that way. Sheep need regular hoof trimming ATLEAST once a year if not twice. I do all mien at shearing and then before fair season. SO unless they are stuck to just sit in thier own feces and urine and muddy wet conditions then yes they will get hoofrot. those animals should be in a barn with shaving and hay and treatment. Taking thier lambs away is going to stress them out even more! they worked hard to produce those guys. with painful feet. and they are not goign to just "pass" along hoofrot to the lambs because they have it. its an infection and yes the lambs will get it if they are in those conditions that made the others get it. Sheep are not stupid.
Awwww darn my eggs still have nothing. I tossed them yesterday!!
