I just took my babies outside to play with everyone else. Things were going good, they were eating peas with everyone and being ignored. Then my turkey started making her weird whistling noise, the quiet one. I thought for sure it was her attack the ducklings call, but then I looked up. Apparently duck peeping draws in hawks quick. There was a pair of them sitting in the air a few hundred feet up. I put the ducklings back in the box and everyone else ran for cover. The hawks came in close but they didn't see the ducklings and everyone small was well hidden so they left. Guess I need to get their outside brooder fixed back up before they can go play again. It's a 3' x 6' tractor, so plenty of room. I just want it moved into the run and the wires getting a bit rusty and it needs a new door before I use it again. I used it last year to grow out babies and as a broody pen. Once they get more feathers they can start going out a few hours a day at least. I want them to get to know the chickens while they are still small so no future problems.
