nothing nice like ducks laying in the morning. I can find morning eggs, mid day eggs and afternoon eggs from the curlies. Our production Africans were a 1-3pm like clock work every day. They also hide their eggs very well, the silly things.

all of the breeding groups have access to their stalls, and or nesting sight that is protected from the weather all day long. We have had 2 eggs just laid out in the open, otherwise they use the spots we provide.

here is the last chicken hatch of SFH chicks and some new EE stock

ducklings, goslings and more chickens due NYD
Nice group of birds Celtic.
If those geese start laying in February, I'm gonna kick some feathery butt.

Our ducks usually lay in the cold too and it's a struggle to get them before freezing. Since the cold cold stuff got here they backed off a bit then we had some warm weather which was nice and they started back up heavy. Now that more cold is headed I'm sure they will be slacking off again.

If I don't get around to it later Merry Christmas everyone

I finally got all my gifts wrapped and under the tree so now I'm officially ready for Christmas.

Chicken, I was reading back over the thread and I'm really sorry to read about your tragic loss. Hope you can find a new drake and have a happy holiday!

Thanks Utah...... We have found a couple potential drakes in Illinois so hoping to get a new male soon.

My ducks used to lay in winter too. I'm down to the injured lucky and one ancona girl, so not getting any eggs now. :( I was just surprised the geese would lay in late winter, but oh well, I'm not a goose so what do I know?

How is everyone? I hope the season finds all well, healthy, and joyful. Much love to all my BYC friends.

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas Marty. I hope 2013 brings you lots of ducks and geese and plentiful days for of yummy goats milk.

We are good here, weather leveled out, cool but not cold. Finished the last of the butchering for 2012 yesterday. Just a couple of geese and 2 or 3 ducks left to do in early 2013

hope they are the quality your looking for
One place was not so I'm down to looking at seeing if I can manage to come up with the money for the show quality pastel silkie drake or come up with enough chicks from this hatch to do a trade with some Marans and Silkie chicks. He also had a hen that had to go with the deal but his price is a bit high on them which he is probably adding the shipping from Holderread on to get the price that he is at so if I can come up with enough on trade then I will be getting him and the hen.

Merry Christmas everyone. My Christmas plans were slightly ruined when my sisters husband turned monster on her and her three boys (2 months, 2 years, and 5 years old). He and she need to leave alcohol alone but he has a serious issue with it. You know how it goes though it's all her fault she provoked him and it would have never happened if she would have just left him alone blah blah blah. We were not raised to take crap from anyone but here she is again because this happened only 1 1/2 years ago. Now it's really starting to show on my nephews and it just breaks my heart. Christmas dinner was planned to be done at her house so now no Christmas dinner. Not sure when the boys will be able to come back and open presents. We are having New years at the cowboy church. Nothing like surrounding yourself with good people to help take your mind off of all the negative that happens. You all have a great Christmas and a wonderful New year! Let's all make 2013 a great year...... I know I have some things to do different the first is going to be beefing up security on all of our chicken and duck yards including the perimeter around them all plus get a couple new yards built ASAP. Oh don't think I've shown him to you guys yet but we got us a new LGD. He is not much yet but one day he will be. He is 25% Anatolian 75% Pyrenees.
