I'm so irritated with myself. I was candling Serama eggs, looking for internal pips, and I dropped one on the counter. Luckily, I caught it before it hit the floor. Still, it's bleeding. It had pipped internally, so I chipped away at the end where there were no vessels. These are my first chicken hatch. What do you think? I'm going to try to attach a pic. I'm on my phone.

To clarify, it cracked on the counter and started bleeding, so I chipped away shell at the air cell so I could see what was going on and to make sure it could breathe.

Dang I hate when that happens. Before the new incubator I used to have to hand turn all my eggs because an egg turner wouldn't fit into my homemade cooler incubators and occasionally I would do this but usually at an early stage so often I had to just throw them out.

How is the chick doing this morning?

Christine- How is the chick doing? Did it hatch out ok?
It's snowing again here. I don't like breaking ice, and the cold and snow drive me nuts but I think the part I hate the worst is how wet and gross everything is right now. Including my birds. I'm going to turn their bedding and add some new stuff and stall dry today, but it doesn't make much difference. Hurry up spring!
