Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

No change since last night. He's still just hanging out, but seems OK, I think. No more bleeding and I think the blood vessels are shrinking. He peeps some.

So out of 7 eggs due today/tomorrow, I have this one that I dropped, 5 external pips as of last night, and 1 internal pip. I'm kind of glad I had to go to work this morning, so I'm not tempted to mess with them all day.

peeping is good so is no more blood. Hopefully the added moisture will keep things moving forward. Update when you can once home from work.

Christine- How is the chick doing? Did it hatch out ok?
It's snowing again here. I don't like breaking ice, and the cold and snow drive me nuts but I think the part I hate the worst is how wet and gross everything is right now. Including my birds. I'm going to turn their bedding and add some new stuff and stall dry today, but it doesn't make much difference. Hurry up spring!

I know I'm so sick of this. Last snow you got we only had a little bit of a dusting this crap has been coming down for a while and is wet wet wet.

come on little chicks.

My incubator is on lockdown again (every week actually) 4 marans and 1 mystery egg (either paint silkie or Mille Fleur Cochin) I didn't mark it so could be either. Got one external pip so far and 1 Marans egg rocking.

My japanese eggs are pipping.

I might get some new years day chicks after all even though they aren't due until Thursday. I've got one duck pipped right on time, and another that hasn't pipped yet. Baby time here soon.

My youngest was not impressed with the snow last time, but today when I took her out there she threw herself down in it and started rolling around and laughing. Then she ate a bunch, and I eventually had to drag her inside after she turned into a soggy muddy mess.

too cute! and bug cangrats on the eggs pipping. Is it true Seramas hatch sooner than LF chickens?
Thanks! Mine hatched day 21, so not in my experience so far. They were in my incubator though, so temp could be off. I will let you know when mine start laying and I have a broody hatch them if it takes her less than 21 days to cook them, lol.
