And I think my Black Copper Marans hen laid her first egg

. Not entirely sure it was her or if it was the RIR hen that is about a month older but it is a fairly dark brown egg.

This is a dirty muscovy egg and the BCM egg, both were found in random places in the yard.

Aww.

I can't wait for ducklings! I need some more fuzzy in my life!

Pretty eggs!

I'm about to add some light to my pen. They seemed more productive with even just the christmas lights I had out there. The geese chewed those up.

I'm tired of the slackers not paying their way, I have one almost 3 year old bantam who is laying 5-6 eggs a week, my EE pullet is laying 5-6, and no one else. My oldest birds besides the almost 3 year old aren't even 2 yet, and the rest are pullets, I should have more eggs than I'm getting!

They are getting 3 parts game bird raiser to 1 part oats/corn, they were wormed in Oct but with the lack of eggs I am going to worm them again this week. This is the first year I've ever had production slow down this much for this long, and the only thing I'm doing different than previous years is I don't have those silly solar lights I was sure weren't making any difference other than making it easier for me to see to lock up.

Still kind of slow on this thread...

I need to split up my geese and ducks. I've noticed the last couple days my geese are kind of starting to bully the ducks a little. Not a lot, but I can tell it's making a couple of my Anconas nervous. I'm trying to convert my dog "yard" that's about 1/3 acre into a goose pen. It's all dirt and full of holes from my old Pointer that loved to dig and has a bunch of Doug fir that needs to be cut down. I have so much work to do and I have to have my gallbladder removed next Friday. Then I'm not supposed to lift anything for 4 weeks! Not the best timing.

awww i was that with mine it took 2 days for mine to fully come out of the shell he is now 5 months old i have put pics of him on :)

Lol, I have the opposite problem here. My call duck drake is starting to bully my geese. He chases them every time they get too close to his favorite girl. It's kind of funny seeing the little guy make the geese run in terror, but I do feel bad for the poor geese being "terrorized" like that all the time. They have almost an acre they have access too, if it bothered them too much I'm hoping they'd just go hang out in a different spot. I'm guessing that will change next year when there's a gander instead of just girl geese.
Hope all goes well with your surgery. Good luck not lifting anything, lol. They told me that when I had my kidney surgeries too, but with babies and kids that lasted about an hour after I got home.

Cute little guy, amazing how fast they grow isn't it?

That's funny. Usually my Sebs are like yours, running from the Seramas, but maybe since they are 2 years old this year, the breeding hormones are kicking in stronger.

Hey RG - I just remembered this: I think we both sold Anconas to a lady named Jennie (she said she bought them from someone in your area, so I assumed it was you). She emailed me a couple months ago, asking if I had your contact info because she wanted the name of the place where you buy your feed. I couldn't find your email and you weren't on here then. Do you know who I'm talking about? Where do you get your feed?

Christine, best of luck with the surgery!!!

Hubby & I are FINALLY getting into gear with setting up our breeder pens. We should have our top buff/grey dewlap pair moved tomorrow and our top two African pairs moved by the weekend.

Ember laid her 4th egg today. She is a laying machine!!

I sold a lot of Ancona babies! I get my feed from a Mill in Toledo Washington. You can just PM me her contact email & will get them together.

Set 6 Emu eggs today & 4 Tues.

Anyone Else when they watch a movie and there are chickens in the background try to figure out what breed they are?
