Welcome, little one! It's been a few weeks since I've had a real hatch.

But I do have a new gosling that I thought I was going to lose. When I went to put the egg in lockdown, I dropped it. Right on the rock that I use as a heat sink in my still air. It bled and I thought it was going to die for sure. But 24 hours later... gosling!

Hi all, candelled my 16 duck eggs today only to find that two ar sacs are at the wrong end of the egg?! Both had th duckli embryo clearly moving inside (we're on day 16) but I guess what I'm inquiring is are they going to have a problem hatching?

Also my air sacs are not very big, they've grown in size slightly but for 16 days in should they be quite big by now? I'm very confused by this weigh loss business and don't really understand enough to fiddle with the humidity (temp is 37.5, humidity has strayed between 43% and 46% most days as incy is in a classroom and the temp doesn't stay regular inside the room...

any help or advice gratefully received

Hannah

Don't worry about the size too much mine didn't get bigger until about day 23! If it's at the wrong end though you probs will have to help them hatch as there may not be enough room for them to manoeuvre. I'm not too hot in this subject but hopefully someone else is. Have you Googled it? Normally the results bring you back to byc anyway.

Thanks qwackers, yes tried googling buy yes get bought here most times lol. All it really says is that it gets bigger but not really how. I posted this in another area of NYC and was told 43% is too low and to raise it to the 60's until lockdown, off to google that hehe

Well my ducks just scared the bejeepers out of me. I went out to put everyone to bed and no ducks! My ducks ALWAYS put themselves away so I was worrying. I looked and looked and it started to rain on me (why does it always rain on me when I'm looking for my birds?) and finally found them in a really overgrown area that had gotten marshy thanks to all the rain. I couldn't go in after them so I went back to the pen and clanged around the feed bin. That's a sound they respond to. Soon four ducks came scurrying out of the woods and into the pen they went. Ugh, they like to torment me.
