sometimes mother nature freaks me out a little!
Sorry you had 6 babies that drowned that's sad. But congrats on helping to hatch the last khaki!
I have two eggs in lockdown. One's internally pipped! Can't wait for them to hatch so I can give them to my broody girl.
Thank you. We just had another freak of nature thing happen. We came home after being gone for the day to find two more of the original eleven dead. They seemed perfectly healthy that morning. We had them separated from the other ducks, but with their mom. She had actually two sets of babies. The older are beginning to be feathered and the babies are not. The babies are her eleven.
We are thinking that the mom killed her two babies trying to make them independent, but they were too young and kept coming to their mom. I do not think she is able to tell they are different ages, so needless to say we removed the remaining three and abandon (the younger khaki). We were so upset. Our other theory is the older babies tormented them. Not sure, but they were not ill and they were completely healthy and active that morning around 5:00 am and when we returned around 8:00 pm they were not alive nor warm.I hate it so much.....![]()
Hey stranger! I think most everyone's done hatching for the year, so they may not pop in as much. I'm still going, got at least one more order to fill. Just hoping I can shut the bator down for a while soon. I'm down to only the cabinet, so that's good. Four other bators sitting quiet and empty.Hi everyone!!! I haven't been on in a while due to computer issues again!!! I probably will not be hatching until next year at the earliest. How is everyone doing?
