Ok guys, I need help! should I have a mixed chicken flock, or a "1 breed" flock? Im really likeing those sussex chickens, but I also like my orps! ALSO cochins! Should I have two of each? Or just stay with my orps?!

anyone here have bantam or standard cochins? (bantams perfered) would a bantam hen be ok living with a orpington roo?

I have had LF roos and my smallest hen weighs barely more than a pound. My roo is half bantam cochin. I think they are cute with their boots with the fur, lol. If you just want them for decoration and eggs for eating get whatever you like.

Well, I really like my orps, but I also like cochins and sussexes. But not sure if I should get two of each, or three of two

Should be. Bantam cochins aren't all that small. If you had little bitty ones like serama's or dutch then I wouldn't, but cochins should be ok.
My orps have all been the easiest going of all my chickens. I'm not sure on sussex's temperament, I haven't had them. Check out their thread and ask. Some breeds are meaner than others, it took a loonnng time for me to trust my silver laced wyandottes around smaller chickens. They were bullies.

we have cochins
everyone gets along good.
they live with our guineas.
and a few years ago they had to deal with barred rocks.
the roosters never botheres each other.
and the BR roo never bothered the smaller hens they kept to themselves.
cochins are broody fools!.
we had one try to sit on a rock.
and another come up missin for a month and turn up with 6 little ones.
they are determined.
wel also have 1 who is bonded to the ducks.

The reason I want bantams is cause they wont eat as much... Which means... MORE!

DG: I have the same "issue" here. I have 2 separate pins now. Sussex in one, lavenders in one, and I'll have to build another cuz I want some blue laced red wyandottes for bannies. I have a couple projects I want to work on.

So I'll have to build another pen out at my dad's.

Where are you thinking you'll order from? Because if you can ensure you'll get rooster/hen, I'd go with 2 of each.
