You can't buy people on eBay. You're wasting your time.

Oh. I was wondering why my "young male celebrity" searches kept coming back with only DVD's.

Not really a difference. Self blue just means 'blue all over the whole body' as opposed to a bird that has blue on it but is not all-over blue, like 'blue with lacing' or 'blue copper'.

Well, that made me look a bit further. In my (European) chicken genetics book it says that Self Blue is just uniform, all over blue without strong lacing. It's described as different to Andalusian or Laced blue, where the bird is blue but also has a strong dark blue edge to each feather. BUT then I looked under Lavender and there is a note saying that Lavender is also known as Self Blue in the US. So there you go. It's a bit of a pain when different names for colours are used in different places.

guys do you think im a good responsible chicken owner? please be honest. cause people are lecturing me about my chicks dieing because "i didnt do my research before hand and now all my chicks are doomed"

(when i did a months worth of research!)

Well, it's clear that you care about your chicks, chickens and ducks a lot. When you put up photos of them they are always in good condition and healthy looking. I think you are a responsible owner.

Sometimes chicks die. I know plenty of responsible owners who are also very experienced and who breed a lot and still suffer major losses from time to time. Chicks are vulnerable to a lot of things that can make them sick. Probably the main thing is coccidiosis, which I'm sure you know. If a chick gets sick then the first thing I'd do is treat with something that will deal with the cocci. I use Baycox, because that kills the things that cause the problem (whereas other things tend to just slow them down). So that's my only advice, if you are not already treating them for cocci.

Just because you have had a bad run with chicks lately doesn't mean you are doing anything wrong or are not responsible. If they have enough space, a clean environment, heat, fresh water and appropriate care and/or medication when they are sick then you are giving them everything they could need and you are doing everything that a person could do.
