Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

My family is probably sick of hearing about poultry, but they aren't letting on that they are.

And this duck is only in my house cuz it's a baby. I approached the subject of a house and duck and got shot down. Like, with a 12 guage shot down. LOL!!

Hello ladies! I read the first 160 pages of this thread before I realized that you were adding more pages faster than I could read! It was really neat watching you all 'get to know each other' and share in each others ups and downs! So, tonight when I had a bit of excitement, and my hubby was already sleeping, I knew who would appreciate it! You!! :)

Ok, so this is the first time I have ever incubated anything, and I didn't know that shipped eggs can have the air cell problem...or that it was a problem until about a week ago. So, at that point I found one of those plastic camping egg trays and put them all in with their blunt ends tipped up. I was worried that because I had not caught it until well into the incubation process that it would be a problem. I am still a bit worried because out of the 12 eggs, 10 have some degree of displacement, with 3 or 4 having severely messed up air cells. BUT.....tonight and I was closing up for the night, I walked past the incubator and peeked in (no, I didn't open it!!). I was so excited to hear all kinds of little ticking noises!! Then I heard a little tiny 'peep peep'!! I am soooo excited! Tomorrow is day 28. I know this is when it gets hard because you have to be patient...sooooo patient. So, I am gonna try ever so hard to be patient!

Ok, there you go. Had to share with someone who would appreciate it! :) Gonna walk with me through the process? I am a busy homeschooling mom of 5 kiddos, and hubby works from home, so I don't get too much time to sit at the computer, but I am hoping to keep up with you guys as much as I can!

Great. It is 1am and now I wanna stay up and listen to my duckies. I know, I know...get some rest, its gonna be a while! ;)

Nice to meet you all!
Becky

haha my grandma literly said i dont want to hear another thing about those **** ducks until they start laying.
everyone else just blows me off.

and when mine were babies they had to live on the porch, in a rabbit/guinepig cage (was actually used for a hedgehog)
and then got kicked outside to a a makeshift pen around a doghouse, then to a dog kennel in the garden, and now to their big ducky home =)

Yes I read it. I was taught if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all, even though I don't always follow that saying. So that is all I will say about the bessemer thread.
guys do you remember that bessemer thread? the lady who kept saying it was a breed gave up and told everyone its a made up breed! did any of you read the thread?

read this:
Bessemer

Ok, My posts aren't showing up again. this is weird.

Anyway, I'm not seeing any veining in my eggs. Tell me that's still okay.. Starting..... Now.

Ok, I have like 15 pages to go back and read and catch up on. Sister and brother in law showed up last night, without calling of course. And brother in law sits on my computer the whole time he's here of course, so I gave up and went to bed as soon as they got here. Then my truck broke down this morning on the way to take hubby to work.

Ok, that's all the bad stuff, now for the good.
My eggs are all in perfect shape, not a crack in there. Yay! So there are 24 calls in the bator, and one less quail egg. I can't believe how much smaller the call are than regular duck eggs. The little guy popped out without me noticing as I was putting in the duck eggs this morning! Ok, now give me an hour to catch up on everything I missed.

I feel the same way. About the poster too, I just hope the newbies don't listen to her "advice" she gives.
