Wow. Looks like the homeschool discussion brought out some childhood stuff! I am so sorry for those of you who have had a really tough time of it! The great thing about adulthood is that you can move past those hurts and make your own future! :)

I figured I would share my school story. I was not homeschooled. I went to public school the whole time. I hated Junior high with a passion. It was the worst time in life. I didn't even get picked on that much, i just was constantly saddened with how mean everyone was to each other! I thought high school was ok. I LOVED college. I was not a party girl or anything, I just loved how the dynamics of relationships changed. People matured and had the ability to treat each other with respect. Throughout the entire time, I saw home school families that were well-adjusted (most of them), well-socialized, but had the ability to treat each other with respect. I longed for that so much that I decided my kids would never go to junior high. Elementary maybe, high school maybe, but not junior high! In the end, we decided to start them in K at home. The oldest is now in 5th and doing well. The next one down is in 3rd and doing amazing! She is artistic and logical! She is doing 5th grade math and hardly misses a problem! This is the same curriculum that my oldest did last year. He struggles a bit with math, but is in love with anything science related. I love that we can push him to try harder in areas he struggles, but also open up the doors of science as wide as we want! He spends hours a day in science related activities.

Madison, I am so sorry that you are having hard time in math right now! It must be hard for everyone to go through a divorce and have to try to function effectively!! There is a good website with videos that walk through most new math concepts, let me try to find it for you!

Cindy, What beautiful duckies! Great job making a nice space for them! Wait...aren't you supposed to be taking it easy? ;)

Evelle,
My mom used to struggle big-time with seasonal depression, and we live in FL!! I think part of it was really missing her fam around the holidays, and missing any kind of season change. I have heard of 'light therapy' helping if it is caused by the weather. I hope this winter isn't hitting you too hard??
oh dear..
i am so glad you have a attentive mother who can see that you had a problem..
i have a friend whose mother was.... for lack of a better word CRAP!! and didnt deserve to be called a mother.. a mother loves their children no matter who or what they are. and doesnt lock them in a basement to get "rid" of them..
she had just came out of the closet.. hard in its self. also was a scratcher for many many years..
broke up with her first girlfriend and cut herself almost killed herself. she has been free for 2 years now.. we went to go get a tattoo to remind her of her battles and strenghth in all this..
i battle with depression also mine is mostly seasonal in the gloomy winter gray weather. runs in my familly..
i am so happy to hear that you are fighting it!!!
and just remember you are loved!

well im glad your kids are good ;)

Math totally sucks. lol. and you dont have to bother with the videos.... it wouldnt work on my computer anyway :(

nice to see you back BTW!

JZ, Sounds like an interesting book? Haha! Would it be along the lines of "hold them too close, don't let them go, in this way you can smother the life out of them?" or, "release them too ealry before they are ready and don't say anything about the mistakes they are making, in this way they will fall into a pit that you didn't help them learn about." I have seen 'deaths' of teenagers in both of these categories!

I totally agree about encouraging your kids to toughen up! My kids get lots of socialization (sometimes too much). They are on a swim team, drama, piano, site classes, etc. They do come across these situations and are trying to learn to handle them with grace and dignity!
I think everyone has had battles ~ Good & bad

I know I have the stories to tell, & actually writing a book called " How to Kill a Teenager" (not what you think) It doesn't matter where you came from or what you have been through ~~ it makes us who we are. Before I blame anyone for how I was raised or what was or wasn't done in my upbringing, I always remember someone out there had it worse than me, made it though it ~ Became successful..

I instill in my kids ~ TOUGHEN up! If someone makes fun of you just say " Uh Okay" & leave it, because bullies only pick on kids who are OVERLY sensitive. They have come home & said so & so called me "bla bla bla" I just ask them are you? & they say "No" I reply then don't sweat it. You are going to hear & deal with alot worse in your life, grow thicker skin, let it slide off, & move on.

Because I believe SCHOOL is a right of passage teaching you how to deal with "idiots when adults", in a professional way. Not everyone was raised as I am raising you, BUT you do need to learn to CO-HABITATE with them in your personal, professional, and social life forever.

My kids WEAR what they want, & are trend setters, are not afraid to make a fool of themselves. One lesson I learned from my dad is the one most important thing to learn in your life is "Don't sweat the small stuff, & everything is a little thing" & "Don't be afraid to laugh at yourself!"

Ok, back to the original reason for my visit! My duckies! ;)

Looks like at least 5 or 6 (out of 12) have externally pipped. I can tell by all the clicking and stuff that they must have all (or almost all) internally pipped. This is so exciting for me! I told hubby I would be ok with not having any more human babies if he would let me continue to hatch out ducky babies! ;)

I wanted to ask about humidity. I filled both trays of water and it is running at about 70-75%. Is that good, or do I need to increase it? If I need to increase it, what is the best way? Plug up some holes, put in a damp rag?

How long from pip to zip usually?
