Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

our male (the daddy) killed and ate a snake that was after our chickens when he was a pup. he enoyed it very much. he also protected 7 chicks with his life from two of our adult dogs when he was 6 weeks old. if raised around (not in) with chickens they will not even let a stranger thats with you near them. they are fantastic! i love this breed. they aren't a inside dog though. they couldn't be house trained to save their LIVES! LOL!

All three of them are good with children, they act like hey have to protect them even when they are with you. If you ever plan to have sheep, and the mamas have babies, please take the dog out of the pen. if not the dog thinks IT, is mama sheep and won't let real mama near the babies. then the babies get so weak from not eating that they die... very sad. we had this happen with our females great, great, grandma, sweet dog, but BOY OH BOY,was she protective of baby lambies! (i could go on and on about this breed, trust me!)

I love hearing these stories! It's pretty much everything I've been reading for the last few months. Although, one article I found disturbing said that "Anatolians should not be raised with people if you want them to work in the fields.." I'm like .. really? Um.. no. What do you do, drop the puppy off in the field and say, "Here ya go.". The one breeder I was talking to said she has 2 dogs for the "day shift" and 2 dogs for the "night shift". I thought that was pretty neat.

actually breeders in turkey will put a puppy in a large feaild with sheep for over a year and come back once a year to gather lambs to sell. and the dogs just feed themselves. its amazing! and when the owners come back the dogs remember them! its incredible! but kinda sad :(

the pair we have together now (long haired male with slightly mix bred female) do the day shift night shift. the girl stays awake during the day and watches fr anything that moves (best quarder we have) while the male sleeps, then at night they switch! its amazing how well they work together...

Ugh TRY ing To catch up

I think me a JZ have similar taste. And Evelle, you and me could throw some back in a honky tonk hole in the war bar. And DG reminds me of me when I was a kid... in love with my animals. And 70 reminds me of a character in a book... classy with a bit of spunk.

In fact, I've thought about writing a book about us.
