I don't think so. Usually you don't hear tapping either until they've pipped. If they've internally pipped you'll hear a clicking sound. That's the ducklings breathing, sounds a lot like tapping. If they've internally pipped you should be able to see their beaks shadow in the air cell candling. I think SM's ducklings hatched early. What day did they hatch sm?

Almost a week early. I wasn't on lockdown at all and I was still candling.

Hmmm. I'm guessing Iain's babies will hatch the 30th. Day 24?

I think at the rate 2 or 3 are going, they may make it out before the weekend. I will be able to candle them in 6 hours to see.

My poor little ducklings are going throught their ugly stage. The are starting to get pinfeathers. Yay, soon I'll be able to have a clue of what color's they'll end up being. I tried vent sexing them again a few days ago. Still girls, but I could still be wrong. I've never had a boy duckling to vent sex. Guess I'll see in another months or so, maybe they'll be quacking or not by then. Wish I had a duck expert near me I could take my ducklings to and show them their private's and find out for sure, lol.
