I hatched 11 chicks out of 12 eggs !! Awesome but was really wanting a 100% hatch on shipped eggs

Wow, that's great.

When eggs get shipped, do they get special treatment? Here, they just go in with the normal post. They get chucked around like a footy (football). I got some of my ducks from posted eggs - out of three dozen eggs TWO hatched successfully. They were hatched by a friend of mine who really knew what he was doing too. I once set a dozen posted Marans eggs under a broody. Got ONE and then it DIED.

So 11 is fabulous!!!

My hubby worked for Fed Ex for 13 years, so I asked him if they ever got live shipments or fragile boxes. He said they did all the time and they definitely gave them more special treatment if they were marked. He also said they shipped live animals and that there is a special courier that handles those.

He also told me Fed Ex ships all the zoo animals from zoo to zoo and like Elephants from Africa to the zoos and stuff like that. I thought that was really interesting.

Thought I'd share.

Anyway, my point is, do people just use USPS because it's cheaper? Cuz I bet Fed Ex shipping would result in a better hatch rate. Just a theory.

JZ- Those appleyards are up to $30! If you can wait 6 months I'll send you eggs. Otherwise, they're getting kinda high. In my opinion.

On the other hand, I can't find them anywhere else. They are either sold out or not laying.
