Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

That's Great! That is so nice of her. Kinda takes the worry away a little.

qj sounds like you have quite a variety cookin in there

the lady i got my eggs from said she has eggs under a duck, so if none of mine hatch she will give me ducklings. =)
shes such a nice lady .

i candle them every morning lol.
my flashlight is good enough that i just turn the light off and place the light against the egg without moving it.
im amazed at the progress from day 2 day .

I don't know about the treats. I've never given my babies any. I give my chicks treats, but my ducks are more picky. Maybe it's just mine though. I can't get my adults to eat peas. I thought ducks loved peas.

they were a BIG hit with mine.
they loved them .
mine eat just about any kind of lettuce.
love tomatos.
peas.
oatmeal .
peppers.
they kind of liked the kale.

but they dont like corn . i mix some in their feed and they pick the good stuff out usually. unless its rly cold

o and what kind of chick starter do you guys use?
grandma is freaking out bcuz she read that medicated chick starter is bad.
but i have read its ok now a days.
so im kind of torn bcuz i can;t find unmedicated in our local feed stores.
i have 1 more to check tho next time im in indianna

I threw some left over romaine to them a couple nights ago and there it sits. LOL. Haven't tried collard greens though.. I'll give that a try.

Now my chickens are another story. There favorite is noodles and corn. Oh and mashed potatoes.

I feed medicated Dumor. It's the TSC version of Purina. I read that Purina actually makes it for TCS.

I also read that back in the day the medicated feeds were specifically designed for chickens and were back for the ducks, but now there are medicated for both. Did that make sense? Because I had the same concern at first when I kept reading that, so I did some googling.

makes perfect sence.
thats prolly what i will end up getting.
unless rural king has non medicated (just so she will hush about it, and bcuz it will be cheaper, everything there is cheaper)
i tried to give her money for my goslings and she wont let me, she says shes using the money for bedding, feed, a new watterer, ect.
so no complaints i guess. lol . saves me some money just makes me feel bad she wont let me pay for them,.
