Yay QJ!!! I am excited for you!!!!! Don't forget to draw pencil line on aircell on day 7 to mark the evaporation.
FYI, I have been maintaining 101 temp and 48% humidity. Starting on day 7, I open my bator for 10 minutes and mist the eggs too. My evaporation rate looks textbook on day 14.

Well I know that Squishy, the Pekin is a girl. And I know that Dante, the Black Sweden, is a drake. Its the Welsh Harlequin that I am unsure. I vented it yesterday and could not find a pee pee (ha ha QJ I said pee pee

but DG said that since it is getting the black head that it is a Drake, so I don't know yet. This is who we call Libby but it might be a Lance.

Such a beautiful duck!
I've found the welsh are some of the hardest to sex once they get feathered, at least until they get their adult feathers. Sometimes they just all look the same!
And I've found that there's a certain age where the males can sound like females and vice versa!
From looking at this picture, though always hard to tell in pics, I would say hen. The yellowish bill and dark head would make me say drake, but the head isn't exactly green yet. I have some hens that have dark colored necks and heads. I also have some with yellow bills. Plus the body on that duck for some reason makes me say hen.
How old did you say they are now? If you have a clearer picture or at least one of the head I would be able to tell a little better!

I'll do that. The little speck in egg number 2 is bigger today. I hope that continues. AND I saw the little speck in egg #1 move! It's about the size of half a dime.
I'm at 100 degrees 60 humidity.

I'm pretty sure 60% is too high for geese, so it may be extra important to remove eggs every day, mist and leave out for 15 minutes. Oh yeah, I am also manually turning 5x per day.

I can lower the humidity. I have to work to get it up that high. My bator likes to be at 50. I am also turning 3 times a day and misting twice during a cool down.

Geese are work!

They are definitely more work to hatch than ducks! By the way, my geese are being so weird lately. This morning, they woke me up at 7am hanging out in my front yard, honking away. I had to let my dogs out into backyard to bark at them to discourage them from coming over to the house, as they have to cross a street to get here. They mosied back to courtyard area of horse property and kept honking away. I went out and fed them an hour early, which finally shut them up. Hope this doesn't last for too long. It's not pleasant to be woken up by honking noise right out my window.

I know I am joining in a little late but I have eggs that are going into lockdown saturday. They are bantam cochin, black copper marans, BLRW, BO, SS, BA, EE and some banyard mix that my friend wanted me to hatch from her flock. i am so ready for them to hatch. I want some chickies!

I also have some more eggs arriving today to fill up my other bators. I am not sure what all they are cause I got a mixture of eggs from spydertoys. But I have a feeling that there will be a wonderful gift in it for me. Some duck, turkey and chicken eggs, and she wont tell me but maybe some goose eggs.

I will let you all know when I get them. It should be around noon today.
