Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Temp stays the same for chicken, duck, goose eggs. (99-100.5 is our preferred range) anything higher can result in early hatching. The humidity is the big difference at lock down. Chickens we run 60-70% while waterfowl gets 70-80%.

Then again our son is running a 3 year themperature experiment and runs chicken eggs at three different temps. This was year one for the testing. He is currently writing his summary and prepping details to do a blog for others to follow and reference.

Do you subscribe to the add 2 degrees for still air advice? I have run my LG still air at 101 (my temp gauge does not measure 1/2 degrees). My ducks did hatch on day 27, but other than Twist's neck, they look really healthy to me!

OK, glad I read it right about the 2 degree temp difference for forced air vs. still air. Otherwise, I'd be running a hot bator at 101.

HEY!!! Quick question... need answer asap!!

A man is coming over in one hour to buy some duckies!!!!

Do we remove the ones we are keeping from brooder pen or remove the ones for sale?? Should we go ahead and separate now so they are not acting crazy when he shows up??

You posted this 38 minutes ago, so it's probably irrelevant, but I hope you moved the keepers out. Last time I didn't remove the 3 I wanted and the guy waved money in my face to buy them. That's how I ended up chicken-less.

QJ, not willing to take that risk! The keepers have been moved safely to opposite end of house in a rubbermaid horse water trough. All are settling in nicely. Now we are waiting for guy to call when he gets to the freeway exit by our house. Hubby is bumming.

Ruh roh, though... hope I am wrong, but my ancona "stud" may be making girl vocal noises.

so today i got the last of my supplies for the ew arrivials.
