Yep, Easter Eggers lay green, blue, olive, and brown. Ameracuana lay only blue. Some people buy chicks from hatcheries and think they have the pure breds but the hatcheries sell EE chicks miss labeled as Amercuana. This isn't fair to buyers, and makes them upset when they get told the truth.

either way i love their eggs.
much more interesting than plain white eggs (which make beautiful decorations none the less)
but blue and green eggs are great .
i wish our red bantam hen would start laying again. or lay where we can find them. she is the only 1 of our hens that lay green eggs. the rest lay pinkish eggs

CC112- Yes, I deliberatley grow duckweed to add to their water. They love a bit, but if you give too much, it can disrupt their tummys and change egg flavors. Moderation is best.

I.Utah-it grown well in the midwest. Its tiny floating plants (about half the size of clover) that doesn't root in mud, just floats and sucks up nutrients. Good for cleaning nasty duck ponds, and so is water hyacinth, and they will give you gorgeus blooms! They die in winter, but starts are inexpensive, and one will fill your pond by fall, and if you pull it and dry it, its good in compost or can be burned in woodstsove!!

stillmecle- lock down again? what have you got in this time? I've read all the posts, but its hard to keep everyone sorted in my mind correctly.

I notice most of you candle with a flashlight. Is is a flashlight or a special candling tool? I'm cheap, I use a cardboard box with a 75 watt bulb inside. I have two holes cut into the top, one for quail eggs, and the other for duck/chicken/turkey. I just turn on the light, cover the hole I don't need, and set one egg into the other hole.
