I just ordered silky eggs to be delivered just before THE BIG HATCH!! I'm gonna have chickens again!

I might get some silkie eggs here soon. I need a silkie rooster. I think I am going to try to look for an adult first though, roo's are usually pretty easy to find lol.

Hi guys, hope all is going well tonight.

I candled my eggs (day 21) and all goosies and duckies are still going great. I did note that 3 of my worst air cell dipped duck eggs are showing shadows in back of air cell. Hoping they slow down as I don't want them internally pipping for another 3 days!

QJ, got a steth? It's fun to listen to the clicking and cheeping through LG window. You may find you are not hearing phantom cheeping as it comes out pretty clear with steth!

Hi everyone! Hiya Kevin, fancy meeting you here! DH has computer, but Im checking in while hes gone a minute.

QUESTION:

Many of you candle your eggs a lot, and I ususally only check the week before due date. So, I candled 5 day old turkey eggs, and now I don't know what to think. 5 of 7 appear to have a large dark mass at the top, and 2 lokt thinned out, no blob.

Which is good?? I never do it this early, but I just couldnlt wait!

Now Im frustraited! Please advise!

QJ you worry too much and stress over "perfect" conditions. Relax, keep the humidity up if in lockdown. You saw pushing for internal pipping they are doing good then. Just remember we as humans incubating eggs are trying to replicate nature, not perfect it.

No..... I'm pretty much trying to perfect it.

Marty: You're not supposed to candle all the time. Key word "supposed". 70 tells me to keep my hands out of the box all the time. That being said, I have to open the bator to hand turn, and add water. So I might have the opportunity to candle a couple while doing that.
