Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Right now I have 4 standard african and 2 large african geese hatching. Then, my bators will be empty until Saturday, when I get to set 24 ancona & 12 cayuga eggs.

How's your chick doing after its trip out of the bator?

Well, I did the float test, and it seems fine.

Wow, lots of babies! You will have your hands very full!

The 24 ancona eggs are old... so not sure how many will even develop. Right now, we only have a total of 10 ducks and I expect to have 4 goslings by afternoon. The last 2 have not internally pipped yet... but are still alive.

I'd like to let you all know that I'm sitting in the backyard on a lovely late summer's evening with a glass of local red wine and a bowl of imported Ranch flavoured cornnuts and my duckies quietly wandering here and there. I've got the weekend ahead of me. Does life get better? No. I am content.
Shut up...... We are in -15 degree wind chill, car doors are frozen shut, about 2 inches of snow and ice every where. Ducks are still locked up in house because it is too cold out for them. Hubby is out helping people get into their cars. It is a sucky, cold, frozen start to the Friday Morning.

The 2 little silkies that I have been so worried about are starting to move around this morning, I can't get to wal-mart to get the polyvisol because of the weather. I have been making them drink Save-a-chick and they seem to be coming around really well. I also mushed up some food for them and they have been eating it too. I have one little white chick that likes to play in the water, She stands int he waterer and throws water out at the other chicks. She is one I will probably keep.

DG!!!! Hi sweetie.
