Next question... since this is the last goosie to hatch... how long would you wait before moving to brooder?

I put everything in the brooder as soon as it can walk around well enough to move in and out of the heat lamp.

Good deal... I didn't want to leave it in there all alone when it could be with its buddies. And I noticed the others dried up and got their legs under them pretty quickly... much faster than my ducks.

Hi Marty, we are good here. How are things with you?

Yep as soon as goslings can stand and move on their own they get to the brooder. Dry starter feed works well for everyone butt hubbies quail and the peachicks we hatched.

6:10 time to lock everyone up for the night, be back on in awhile.

My kids love your goose pic. We are all excited about the prospect of getting a young pair of lavenders from you this fall. We think they will be great in the back rock garden area. They want them to look just like "the goose with the permanent in his feathers"!

I'm getting ready to lock down some quail eggs.

My e-bay eggs bought last sat/sun have not got here yet!! However, got an e-mail from one saying to candle hatch, and he'd send me eggs for the difference in one candling embryo positive. (Wow- never had that kind of service from and e-seller before)

Ebay #2 has hatched!! I am so tired at this point my eyes cannot see straight, but both of the remaining eggs look alive... with the BYC egg looking close to internal pipping. So I drew an outline of the air cell, noting the shadow level in back of aircell for each one. I am FINALLY going to take a much needed nap and will check those outlines in an hour or two.
