Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

When are they due? On large eggs, I sometimes run my humidty at 25% until things seem more ok, based on the air pocket size. If air pocket is too big, definately keep humidity low. As far as angle fo the egg, if small end down isn't an option, I'd just treat them normal. I get a lot of eggs shipped to me (except ducks), and sometimes I still lose them halfway through. Just today I found out one of my remaining trukeys has died, and now only 3 good eggs left.

How are you SM? I was gone four days with internet connection issues, but the new plug in works better...for now anyway.

These are mostly Pekins that are due March 18. There are a few runners and buff/SA eggs in there too. Some of the eggs mailed are ok but about 15 of them have this fluid up at the air cells. I have had this before and they all seems to die no matter what I have tried. I have had them laying flat for the last week and it is not helping any. So now I have them angled alittle against the other eggs. Any advise will help.

I have been feeling good. I am waiting to hear from the back surgeons on what they plan on doing and when they plan on doing it. I need to have L5 and S1 repaired in my back. He said it looks like there was a facture on L5 for some years and it has 2 nerves pinched in it. So they need to go in, burn the nerves, put in a cushion between L5 and S1 and then fuze them together.

I'd like to let you all know that I'm sitting in the backyard on a lovely late summer's evening with a glass of local red wine and a bowl of imported Ranch flavoured cornnuts and my duckies quietly wandering here and there. I've got the weekend ahead of me. Does life get better? No. I am content.
poo on you! just kidding i am kinda sad it just started snowing here today after all the mild weather we have had, and we have like 4-5 inches i almost stuck the car over the bank coming up our driveway

! wish i was there ohhh and i haven't had corn nuts in ages!

Hey guys, sorry to not give an update until now. eBay egg #2 has pipped, and the first three are chipping away at the crack line. I keep thinking the first egg is zipping, but it is taking FOREVER! I have not seen anything from the last 2 eggs, but they were a day behind, so I have not given up hope yet for them.
Bakin, it sounds like your babies are getting ready to hatch. About 5 days before hatch, they will start tuning inside egg to get into pipping position. When that happens, the air cell makes that change called a drop down or draw down. When this happens, I position egg so that side dropped down is up and stop turning them.
SM, polyvisol is sold at walmart for $7 in the pharmacy section. It is a vitamin drop for infants. Add to water, and put a little in spoon to offer. You can add a pinch of sugar to make it taste better. Twist had no problems eating kale tossed in it, and I put it in bator to help the new babies we had to hatch.

thank you i will have to move them to hatching!

Bakin, also, I do not bump humidity until they start internally pipping. Candle them every 12 hours, if you can, and review the pics in pete's hatching guide found in sticky section for more info. Best of luck!

Oh, how horrible for you! If they are thinking about killing those nerves, you must be in pain a lot.

I hope they can just cushion up those discs a bit, and not have to adjust your nerves. I hope you find great comfort soon;

As for the duckeggs, Yeah, I usually lose them when this happens, but not always. If your incubator is a still air, you might raise the temp a degree. Good luck, honey!

I just want to get it over with. If they burn the nerves it won't hurt as much after surgery. The nerves that are trapped go to the feeling in the bottom of my feet and the back of my butt and legs. I can do without that feeling.
