Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Hey all! Not going to try to catch up this time. Fridays I don't get home until very late, so I basically have two days to read through.

Kids somehow got a wild hair and knocked over some furniture in my bedroom. They are both in solitary until either: one confesses or it's dinner time. They're only allowed out to go potty. If I hadn't specified, they'd probably potty in their rooms to spite me.

I went and candled my eggs to cheer myself up. I hadn't expected the sudden movement and almost dropped the first one! 11 duck eggs going strong, 3 of 5 chicken eggs with obvious movement, two I can't really tell. Darn brown eggs!

8 more days for chickies, 15 for duckies!

I went to the feed store today and bought a couple week's worth of feed plus some supplies for the chicks because I want to keep them seperate from the duckies (and because they *should* be going under a broody hen 1-2 days after hatch). Had to stock up on feed store stuff so I don't go back again until I have hatchlings. They get their chicks and ducklings on the 9th, my chicks hatch the 11-12th-ish. Got to avoid the impulse buy.

I can see hubby: "I thought you only had 11 duck eggs? How come there's 20 ducklings???"
That's a good idea. I just bought a bag today, but another few might be smart. I'm pretty good at resisting, but no reason to tempt myself.

And 11 could easily turn into 20 if you had a bunch of double yolkers you didn't notice, right?

Ya'll wouldn't believe what hubby did to me this evening...

I went up into my loft, which is my seed-starting, incubator running, duckling brooding space to start some pepper seeds.

I finish seeding 8 flats of plants, come downstairs and hubby and the kids have eaten without me! What does he say???

"I forgot you were here." *shrug*

Ya'll know there's a man in this house who's lucky to be alive right now. I told him what I was going to be working on...

Great idea! My hubs never goes anywhere long enough for me to make a swap though. Need to get him working on fixing his boat in case I need to sneak in some quacks!

"Look honey, 100% hatch! Great choice on the incubator!"

Got a friend wanting 6 ducklings. Told her she might have to wait for the next batch. I want first pick, dangit!

Poor girl. I'm still trying to break mine of sneaking bites before everyone gets there and we pray. (He thinks we won't notice I guess) He seems perfectly normal otherwise!
Hope your seeds come up quick - I sure get tired of waiting the 30 days for hot peppers to start. I want instant seed gratification!

Morning Anybody and Everybody
