Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

If you mark day 23, then you would be looking for the pip on the air cell side of that line.

I have noticed for both ducks and geese, if everything goes just right, and you set egg so draw down is on top of egg (when egg laying flat) they will pip in top left corner on day 21 line and then zip across top of egg.

Thanks Celtic!! My toulouse and new ancona eggs are also making it to the post office this morning! This is going to be great!

Iain- Sounds like you'll have a full bator!
CG- I got mine thursday, I got 2 emails tuesday night and 3 emails wednesday saying they'd been shipped, so you might get your babies thursday. Can't wait to see them!
QJ- Go sebbies go!
Evelle- The new boys are very handsome!

I candled everyone last night, and 14 of 14 are developing beautifully! Guess 2 weeks of refrigeration just slows them down a little bit, but they still develop great. All 14 eggs are from the same duck, so I know for sure the older eggs were at least 2 weeks + old since she had already been at QJ's a few days when I set the last 4.

I spent WAY too much money on them... but I have wanted eggs from this seller from the beginning... so I said screw it, I will win the auction at all costs. And it did cost.

Between the new ancona eggs, my 10-12 goosie eggs, and Celtic's "surprise" eggs she is sending me, I am not sure I even want to count how many eggs I will have in my bator by Wednesday!

11 eggs coming from me, 5 are goose eggs.

Ok here's the deal. I'm going to mark them again right now.. And then I'm going to ask you how to lay them again later this week to make sure.

Because I will forget and second guess myself.

Oh... and goosies create a much bigger hole before commencing zipping. They will only zip 80%. You can see them zip the underside... and as soon as they emerge on same side as first pip, they will then spin back to top to push lid off.

I've pretty much decided I need to stay out of that place for a couple months. If they end up having runners then I'm in trouble. Luckily our TSC is not very rural and they don't get a whole bunch of variety.

our doesnt either.
its usually just pekins and either rouens or mallards (prolly mallards)

which i dont really want either of those.
but hey if by chance they happen to have something else that catches my eye all the better.

if not i may get the bf to take me to rural king this weekend. it think they have a better variety.
i think it is where his mom got hers and she has khakis, ancona (or magpie) muscovy, and i forget the other 1.
