Hi Julie, SM, Jazz and CG.

Were the partridge the same size and cleaning effort as quail? Which variety did you raise? I've actually been thinking about them and pidgeon both! I'm either a gourmet or a hick! LOL

I want to try pigeon too, lol. I actually want some cute fantails and tumblers to let fly too, but I don't know much about pigeons, and would have no idea where to find the meat ones.
Oh, and if you call it squab you are a gourmet, not a hick of course, lol.

ugh! I feel

After downsizing 8 guineas & 37 Chukars today ~ ALOT of work for little birds !

But they will be

on the barbie !

I don't like to do any bird I can't get my hand inside when eviscerating. Even smaller chickens drive me batty. If the body cavity is small enough that my hands make farting noises while doing the job, the darn bird was too small!

I returned from a 3-hour drive to have to assist several hatches. It's been crazy tonight.

I will never again do a staggered hatch. Every single duck was shrinkwrapped.

I think that happened to two of my baby turkeys. They did die, but were pretty much ready. I've had humidity issues, and one of thermometers was off two whole degrees!

I tested them 3 monthes ago, but there was a change sometime.

I saw that post LOL Hubby would poop a butt load to see all of those eggs.

I have been ok. Had to have my knee MRI today. not sure whats going on with it. I had surgery on it about 16 years ago and Tuesday it was all swollen and sore. I will find out Monday about it.

Got my new incubator today, cleaned it all up and got it running, Cleared some room out in theother incubators.

What kind of eggs did you get today?

I wanted a second one, but after this hatch, I think I can only handle one a month. Heart is still racing and 3 ducks still not out of the woods.

I cancelled my bator order, and got a forced air LG from our local farm supply place. I expected it too be a pain, but it's actually to temp and holding great since this morning, so I put in eggs.

Today I received Toulouse goose eggs and button quail eggs. Yesterday I got duck, turkey, and chicken. Guess I'm covered now, eh?

Lets home some hatch. I got spoiled by lots of good hatches from my eggs, but now that we are expanding, and Im buying more ebay eggs than just quail, my hatches are in the trash last 2. (sigh) I went out and bought several new thermometers today, and tested them, and set each perfect one with some others, to see what they are reading nwo.

Bought a water weasil to use for hatching accuracy. (helps give inside egg temps)

Squishy is an Embden. I had a pair and he was REALLY mean ( I can't free range) so I found a better home for that pair but kept some eggs.

Daughter named him after Finding Nemo...

Hubby wants to know where you found the water weasil, we've been looking around here but nothing

The farm has an Embden and it ambushes me every time I come out of the outhouse! He charged my car one time when I was coming back from lunch!

Ironically, I'm getting goose eggs from the farm because I can't afford the toulouse eggs I kinda wanted. So they are either going to be chinese or embden/saddleback crosses.

Hi PSue. Feeling good. Nervous about Monday but ok I guess. I might go ride my horse tomorrow since it is going to be nice out.
