Hopefully, your toulouse babies are going into the new LG bator?

Hm.... you are making me re-think tossing a few eggs I'm hanging on to in hopes they either develop or have not quit.

Im cleaning it today, and they won't go in until you and Celtics come. Its my best bator, so they will go in there, but only after I steralize it real good here in a little bit. Then I'll have all afternoon to get it back to temp and humidity. The new turkey eggs will go in then too. Ive got the nice eggs stored , and I'm turning them- at 58 w/65% humidity, turning every 12....

Good deal. Did you get the magpie eggs... full size and/or mini?

I am debating on making one FINAL duck egg purchase.... another batch of cayuga eggs. Pidgey's eggs are really in trouble. I only had 4 develop to begin with, all with bad air cells. Now it looks like one is growing, but is stuck to side... and another may have quit. UGH!!

Wow, well I guess the USPS route is a bad one. Maybe you can find someone with eggs that don't have to be shipped so far.

No maggies... They all went for more than I can buy them from the same person directly for. I've made arrangements for egg delivery after the Easter hatch, when I'll have bators free.

I do not blame USPS.

Celtic is in Florida... in my first set, I had 3 of 5 africans hatch. In 2nd set (which did get lost for a day) I have 3 of 5 africans developing well now on day 10.

Aurora is in Georgia and I have had excellent fertility/development from both sets of ancona eggs.

Sebrightmom (LOVE her!!), is who I got my 1st set of cayuga eggs. She is in Illinois (or Iowa?... somewhere in that area), same as our matching sets of toulouse eggs.

I think it comes down to 1) how strong fertility is with breeding stock, 2) how eggs are collected/stored, 3) how eggs are packaged, and 4) how carefully shippers handled the eggs. If any of these factors are off, it will affect development and hatch rate.

Aahh nap time in the house. No updates on DH, going to be another long day.

Just got to cool and mist all the eggs and candle and remove any quiters or non starters. Filled that space right back up with new eggs.

Now have three Sebastopols in lockdown. Two externally pipped, one internally. All are talking to each other. 2 Sassy eggs and a Pandora. These girls are in seperate breeding groups as well.

Help!!! I have vent checked and vent check this WH and I can not find a PEE PEE. But I am told looking at the head that it is a drake. What do ypu thnk? I want to sell this bird todah so I need to know what is it......................................

How old is that duck? Just looking it appears drake with the green comingin on its head and the green bill.

On many breeds of duck once the adult plumage starts coming in vent sexing isn't needed. Vent sexing is best on young ducklings/goslings as if not done properly with older birds it can be harmful.

I vent sexed them at day 2 and never found anything and then I vented checked again at 2 months, never found anything, They are now about 6 months old..
